कृपया परयाविष्टो विषीदन्निदमब्रवीत् |
अर्जुन उवाच
दृष्ट्वेमं स्वजनं कृष्ण युयुत्सुं समुपस्थितम् || १-२८ ||

Meaning

अन्वयः (Word order)

परया कृपया आविष्टः विषीदन्, इदम् अब्रवीत्
अर्जुनः उवाच "कृष्ण! इमं युयुत्सुं स्वजनं समुपस्थितं दृष्ट्वा..."

अनुवादः (Translation)

Filled with great compassion, (Arjuna) sorrowfully said this:
"O Krishna! Having seen these people of my own, all present, eager for battle ..."

Notes

  1. Ramanuja does not comment on this verse separately.
  2. RSDji notes the contrast between Dhritarashtra saying युयुत्सवः मामकाः, पाण्डवाः च in Verse 1 and Arjuna saying युयुत्सुं स्वजनम्. Arjuna is lamenting because he sees both the sides as his own people. Dhritarashtra, on the other hand, is under the grip of ममता.
