मूलम्

न् त्वेवाहं जातु नासं न त्वं नेमे जनाधिपाः |
न चैव न भविष्यामः सर्वे वयमतः परम् ||२-१२||

Meaning

शब्दार्थाः (Word for word)

न -- Not; तु -- but; एव -- indeed; अहम् -- I; जातु -- at any moment; न आसम् -- I was not; न त्वम् -- not you; न इमे -- not these; जनाधिपाः -- kings; न -- not; च एव -- and indeed; न भविष्यामः -- we will not be; सर्वे -- all; वयम् -- us; अतः परम् -- from now on

अन्वयः (Word order)

न अहं जातु न आसम्, न तु त्वम्, न एव इमे जनाधिपाः । न च सर्वे वयम् अतः परं न भविष्यामः ।

अनुवादः (Translation)

Not even for a moment was I ever not existent, nor you, nor indeed these kings. Nor shall all of us cease to exist henceforth.

Notes

Bhagavad Ramanuja interprets this verse as the individual selves should be understood to be eternal just as the Lord himself is eternal. According to BRam this is why Krishna mentions himself as eternal first ( न त्वेवाहं जातु नासम् ). There is also a long polemic here about why this verse should be understood to indicate the difference between individual selves but it seems to be of little practical importance.

Swami Ramsukhdasji connects the previous verse to this one and the subsequent verses -- the previous verse indicates that wise men do not grieve for either the self or the body. This verse talks about how the self is eternal. The next verse is about the ever changing nature of the body.
