मूलम्

सञ्जय उवाच
एवमुक्तो हृषिकेशो गुडाकेशेन भारत |
सेनयोरुभयोर्मध्ये स्थापयित्वा रथोत्तमम् || १-२४ ||

Meaning

शब्दार्थाः (Word for word)

सञ्जयः -- Sanjaya; उवाच -- said; एवम् -- thus; उक्तः -- one spoken to; हृषीकेशः -- Hrishikesha (lit. Lord of the senses. Refers to Krishna); गुडाकेशेन -- by one who has won over sleep (refers to Arjuna); भारत -- O (king) belonging to the clan of Bharata! (refers to Dhritarashtra); सेनयोः -- among the armies; उभयोः -- among both; मध्ये -- in the middle; स्थापयित्वा -- having placed; रथोत्तमम् -- the best of chariots;

अन्वयः (Word order)

सञ्जयः उवाच "भारत! एवं गुडाकेशेन उक्तः हृषीकेशः सेनयोः उभयोः मध्ये रथोत्तमं स्थापयित्वा ..."

अनुवादः (Translation)

Sanjaya said " O Bharata! Thus spoken to by Arjuna -- one who had won over sleep, Hrishikesha, the Lord of the senses, having situated the best of chariots in the middle of both the armies .....

  1. Both Ramanuja and Swami Ramsukhdasji comment about the सौलभ्य of Krishna who immediately acts on Arjuna's order.
