NamaskAram, Can someone please explain the significance of pradakshinams or circumambulations around the moola murthi in a temple. More importantly, is there any theological reasoning behind the numbers of pradakshinams (some groups even numbers, some groups odd numbers, 108,1008 etc.) or is that just based on habit and imitating what our ancestors did for some reason? someone once explained to me that the circumambulation is a mirroring of the earth's revolving around the sun in a clockwise direction, but i'd like some references/other explanations if possible. adiyen, Naresh Ramarajan. ------------------------ Yahoo!
