Subject: A Praarthanai to Sri Kanakavalli SamEtha Sri VeerarAghava Prabhu

Dear BhakthAs :

The visit on the 1998 PurattAsi EkAdasi Friday 
to Thiru evvuLL KshEthram and the enjoyment of the 
most beautiful Thirumanjana sEvai of the divya dampathis 
are now deeply etched in my memory . I wish to celebrate 
that parama BhAgyam with a krithi set in the majestic 
NaatAi raagam that rmeinds one of the ghOsham of 
the Kodhandam of Sri Raghuveeran on the battle front 
in action .
 
I conclude this kruthi  with a personal prayer in 
gadhyam style from the divya naamAs used at this
divya desam .F irst the kr*thi and then the Gadhyam paasage.

The inspiration for these krithi and Gadhya vaakyams 
have come from reading the ThiruveLLUr Sthala PurANam , 
Sri KimgruhEsa SthOthram , Sri Veerarghava AshthOthra
Satha NaamAvaLi , Sri Swathi ThirunAAL's naatai
Krithi on Sri Aantha PadmanAbhan of Thriuvanathapuram .

The English translation of the padhams and Vaakhyams 
used are given at the end of the Sanskrit passages :

Pallavi :   Raksha maam SaraNAgatham , Samraksha maam

Anupallavi: Bhuvana Paavana punyAyathana 
            mahA thIrtha divya vana prabhAvA (Raksha maam )

CharaNam : VeekshAraNya vihAra Rasika ! adhbhutha lakshaNa 
           Vasumathi manOllaasakara ! dEvathA saarvabhouma !
           Aasritha virOdhi nirasana vratha maahthmya !
           Vijaya kOti VimAnanthargatha para VaasudEvA !(Raksha Maam )

Gadhyam : BhaudhAnya Samvathsara BhadrapAtha Sukra vAra ekAdasyam 
          tithou tava sannidhAnam aagathOsmi ! ananyagathinam 
          akinchanam aparAdha Chakravarthim maam dayayA rakshasva !
          
          " asEsha pumsAm hrudhi sannivishta ! analpa sakthyAthi 
            gunair visishta ! Sri Saali hOthra sirasA dhrutha
            hastha padhma !KimgruhAdhipa! Madhu KaiDabha bhanjana!
            JagannAtha ! purANa Purusha ! SaraNAgatha Vathsala !
            mandhasmitha lasath vakthra !dharmaartha kaama kaivalya
            sakalAbhIshta vara dhAyaka ! sarvOpdhrava naasana!

           Sri Lakshmi Nrusimha divya paadhukhA sEvaka SrivaNN
            SatakOpa Sri NaarAyaNa Yatheendhra Mahaa dEsikEna 
            samarchitha Paadha padma ! Praadhur bhava !tvam mayee
            SuprasIdha ! tvadh charaNou SaraNam prapadhyE ! Rakshasva!
            DaasOham ! DhanyOham ! anugruheethOsmi !

Keerthanam:

Palalvi : Oh Sri VeeraraaghavA protect me , who has 
          fallen at Your lotus feet seeking the boon 
          of the acceptance of my saraNAgathi !

Anupallavi: Bhuvana Paavana puNyAyathana , mahA thIrtha ,
            divya vana prabhAva ( Raksha Maam )

(meaning ) : Oh Sri VeerarAghavA of the purest and most
sacred temple (aayathanam ) in the world , Oh Lord with
the highly celebrated theertham ( Hrudh Paapa Naasini 
pushkaraNI waters) and the divine forest known 
for its glory because of Your presence as
sesha talpa sayanan in the middle of that forest ! Please
protect me from the overpowering samsAric afflictions ! 

CharaNa Vaakhyams : 

1. VeekshAraNya VihAra Rasika = Oh Connosieur of
residence and sanchAram in the verdant forest of 
VeekshAraNyam , where You permit Yourself to be seen 
by human beings with their maanusha chakshus 
(human eyes) !

2. Adhbhutha LakshaNa Vasumathi manOllAsakara = 
Oh Lord who charms and delights the mind and
heart of the most beautiful consort of Yours ,
who has the divine lakshaNams that has earned Her 
the naamAs such as UthpalAkshI , Neela kEsini 
and Mandha Gaamini !

3. dEvathA Saarvabhouma = the undisputed emperor 
of all the devAs 

4. aasritha virOdhi nirasana vratha MahAthmya =
Oh Lord , who has taken the vratham to destroy
the enemies of your BhakthAs , who sought 
refuge at Your lotus feet !

5. VijayakOti VimAnAnthargatha Para VaasudEva =
Oh Lord , who is inside the Vijaya kOti VimAanam
as Para VaasudEvan ! Please protect me !

Translation of the Gadhya Vaakhyams :

Oh ! Lord VeerarAghava! I have arirved at Your
sannidhi on this EkAdasi Friday of the BahudhAnya 
year PurattAsi ! I have no other refuge and protection ! 
I am meek and helpless ! I am however the emperor of
all trespasses ! Please have mercy on me and protect me
from all my accumulated apachArams and accept my SaraNAgathi
at Your sacred feet !

asEsha pumsAm hrudhi sannivishta= oh Lord described by
wami Desikan as the resident of the heart lotuses of 
every one !

analpa sakthyAdhi guNair visishta=Oh Bhagavan with
he six divya guNAs of jn~Anam , Balam , Isvaryam ,
Veeram , Sakthi and Tejas !

Sri SaalihOthra sirasA dhrutha hastha padma=
Oh Lord with the lotus hands resting on the head 
of SaalihOthra Maharishi !

KimgruhAdhipa = Oh Master of Thiru EvvuLL !
You asked SaalihOthra Muni for food ,water 
and shelter to rest ( annam dEhi , Jalam dEhi 
sthAnam kinjith pradEhi mE nidhrAm karthum 
sukEna adhya Gruham dEhi) .You appeared before 
SaalihOthrar as a tired, hungry, thirsty old 
Brahmin and asked him : kim gruham ? where shall
I rest ? After resting in the humble hut of the sage ,
You revealed then Your true svarUpam and made
this kshEthram known as KimgruhEsa KshEthram and 
became the Lord of this sacred spot in the middle of 
VeekshAraNyam .

Madhu KaiDabha Bhanjana= Oh Lord , who fought 
ferociously with the two asurAs , Madhu and KaiDabhA 
and destroyed them for the purposes of lOka KshEmam !

Jagannatha = Oh Lord of the whole Universe !

SaraNAgatha Vathsala = Oh Lord , who is very fond of 
those , who seek Your lotus feet as prapannAs !

mandha smitha lasath vakthra= Oh Lord with the face
shining with the gentle , all knowing smile !

dharmArtha kaama kaivalya sakalAbhIshta vara dhAyaka=
Oh Prabhu who grants all the boons -dharmam , artham ,
aamam ,moksham and kaivalyam- that Your bhakthAs seek !

sarvObhadrava naasana = Oh Powerful Lord , who wards 
of all types of dangers that one comes across!

SankarArchitha Sri Kanakavalli samEtha Sri VeerarAghava=
Oh Lord who removed the Brahmahatthi dhOsham of Rudran ,
who sent Veerabhadran to kill His father-in-law , Daksha 
PrajApathi , when latter insulted Him and thus
acquired Brahma hatthi dhOsham . 

Sri Lakshmi Nrusimha PaadhukhA sEvaka SrivaNN 
SatakOpa SRI NAARAYANA YATHEENDHRA MAHAA DESIKENA
samarchitha paada padma = Oh Lord , whose lotus feet 
are well eulogized by Sri NaraayaNa YathIsvarAl ,
who has rights for Your worship on a heridetary basis
as the current simhaasanAsAdhipathi of the Sri Matam .

PrAthur bhava , Tvam mayee suprasIdha ! tvadh CharaNou 
SaraNam prapadhyE ! Rakshasva! DaasOham ! DhanyOham ! 
anugruheethOsmi = Oh Lord ! Please appear in my mind's 
mirror and come before me ! please shower Your grace on me ! 
I have surrendered at Your sacred feet and performed 
prapatthi and seek aathma rakshaNam by the samarpaNam 
of my Bharam . Please accept my self-surrender!
I am your adiyEn ! I am truly blessed to perform 
prapatthi at Your sacred feet with Your own blessings !
I consider myself fulfilled !
