I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Sri Balasubramanian forbringing the passage of Sri Rudram where the name Siva occurs, in response to my request for passages referencing the name Siva. I was aware of the passage in Sri Rudram. However, I am looking for the context in which the name applies to Sri VishNu in the context of Sri Vishnu SahasranAmam. So I was looking for references to Gita, Srimad Bhagavatam, Sri Valmiki Ramayanam, Mahabharatam, etc. I hope I am not maing a mistake by limiting myself to passages which describe the guNas or attributes as they apply to Sri Vishnu in the context of Sri Vishnu sahasranamam. Please forgive me if I am not approaching the issue in the correct context and spirit. I did learn Sri Rudram, but do not have a good vyAkhyAna for it. I looked up at the brief footnote in Sri Radhakrishna Sastri's SahasranAma vyAkhyAna to find out if I could resolve the words "asubhamapi etc.", but it was not detailed enough to answer the questions that I have which I have referred to in my write-up. My sincere thanks again to Sri Balasubramanian for his kind note. -dAsan krishNamAchAryan >
