Dear Bhakti Group Members: I met a visitor from Minnesota in our Balaji Temple over the last weekend who asked me a couple of questions which I could not answer. I would like to request fellow members to assist me with the following: 1. Why is the UrdhvapuNdra for Sri Balaji partially covering His eyes? 2. Why is the door to the garbhagrha closed at certain times (such as naivedya? I did not have a good answer to him for either question, and gave him the traditional answers that our grandparents usually give (viz. the fierceness of the Eyes may burn the sinners, we are not supposed to see when the God partakes of the prasada etc.), but I really did not know the real inner meaning of these practices. I offered to check with our group and get back to him. I forgot the name of the person who asked the question, but his son's e-mail address, to which I agreed to send the response, is parasu@ME.umn.edu. I sincerely appreciate any guidance. -Dasan Krishnamacharyan
