Periyavachchaan Pillai's Tiru nakshathiram

Dear Members, Today, Sep 3. is the tirunakshathiram of Sri Periyavaachchaan Pillai. Sri periyavacanpillai was born in 1228 A.D. at Cenkanur in TamilNadu. He was originally named as Krisnapadar by his parents. as he was born on the same day, Krishna was born, Yamunadesika and nacciyaramma. He was later given the name periyavaccanpillai or "venerated great teacher", inorder to distinguish him from other teachers. While in Srirangam he became a desciple of Sri Nampillai. Sri Periyavacanpillai was the first acarya to comment on all the pasurams of the azhvars. This earned him the title vyakyana cakravartin or "King of commentators." Following are his other commentaries on some Sanskrit works and independent works. Commentary on Stotraratna, Chatuhsloki, Jitante Stotra,Gadyatrayam.
