Okay, so I made a spelling goof =) It is Tiruman Kaappu in the subject line. I vaguely remember that there is a tradition, that Sriman Narayana himself came down and accepted initiation into SriVaishnavism from one of the acharyas ( presumably Udayavar) and took the name Sri Vaishnava Nambi from him. Maybe the tirumaN kaappu was saathi-fied on Sriman narayana at this initiation, and we reflect that in our temple iconography ? =) - Sundar
