Re: "Visrujya Lajyaam" - without shyness!

dear Varadarajan

agreed that in olden days, some brahmins were haughty and they
thought that mere bhagavan-naama in comparison to the vedas was
inferior.

But if the idea(basis) of this slokam was to mean "visrujya lajjyam"
(leave your shyness) then it seems to interpret as if this was meant
only for those haughty brahmins. but its not like that.

This is meant for anyone and everyone, whether he has read the vedas
or not. Whether its a man or woman, whether its a child or a old man,
whether its a king or pauper. Also for those who have committed sins
and think they have no hope at all.

the basis of the slokam therefore is the mass appeal and universal
applicability of Bhagavan-Naama, not just for haughty-brahmins who
think they have read the Vedas.

Vyaasacharya who has blessed us by dividing the Vedas in their
current simple form, himself says that:
"alotya sarva saasthraani, vicharascha punah punah,
idham ekam sunishpannam dhyeyo narayanah sadha"
He has read all the Sastras and he has researched them again and
again and that he finally concludes only one thing-> constantly think
of Narayana.

Finally in the last slokam of the great work Bhagavatam, he concludes
with "naama sankirthanam yasya sarva paapa pranaasaman, pranaamo
dukhashamanahstham namaami harim param"

Naama sankirthanam alone is enough to cleanse oneself of all the sins
and that one should chant Hari naamam.
