Concerning the question of immortality. While I may not answer the original question, it may be worthwhile to consider coordinates of death. It seems that death is cordinatized in the sense that it takes place at a certain time and in a certain place. That is, we live in a world which has at least four dimensions.

It seems that the taking of /amrutA gives one freedom from time as far as death is concerned. But for such a gift to be vaild, the place at which the gift is given is probably fixed. One may be able to extend it to one's local world (/lOkaH). That is, as long as one lives in the local world, where he or she got the immunity from mortality in time, that person would continue to enjoy immortality. If the person did not ask for immortality in particular worlds, and if that person left the original /lOkA or domain of the gift and moved to another world or domain, the time dimension would assume a differnt framework, and the immunity might cease to operate.

The 14 /lOkas are each local worlds. Two such are /bhU/lOkaH and /dEva/lOkaH. 

In the present situation, the question would be if Dvididha moved from the original world where he got his immortality. I do not know if this would answer the original question. 

The Lord in His /narasimhA avatAr neutralizes the coordinates of place when killing /hiraNya/kacIp. That is he created a domain to which coordinates do not apply. 

Again /RAhu and /kEtu partook of /amrutA in /dEva/lOkA and when they did not die after an attempt to kill, they did not leave /dEva/lOkA, but performed penance and regained a position equivalent to that of the other planetary devAs. In fact, in the hierarchy, it appears that /kEtu is next only to /ravi, the Sun.
