Sri SrimathE ramAnujaya namaha SrimathE nigamAntha mahadesikAya namaha Dear Sriman Lakshmi Narasimhan, We can explore the meanings of both terms. The can be used interchangeably since they have similar meanings. However, dosha has different meanings in different contexts of usuage. In this context (atleast when compared to nir-anjanA we can see that both have similar meaning). Here is what the Cologne Sanskrit Lexicon translates Dosha as: doSa : fault, defect, want; sin, transgression; harm, evil consequence; disadvantage, damage, bad condition As such it has different meanings to be used in dofferent contexts of usage. But let us compare it to niranjana which means free of imperfections. Using the above meaning of defect. Let us explore how defect is defined by the Merriam Webster dictionary: defect: an imperfection that impairs worth or utility Hence you can see that nirdosha and niranjana can be used in one of the many contexts interchangeably. In Tirumala, right after the permission from the dwara-pAlakas are taken, the bhattars recite "niranjanAya vidhmahE nirAbhadAya dimahi, tannas Sriinivasa prajodayAt" Regards, Adiyen ramanuja dasan, Malolan Cadambi __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
