Dear Members,
I had not come across this word previously and henced looked it up. Here's what I found. 
I thought I could share it with the other members in the Bhakti List:

Ockham's razor: 
It's a rule stating that plurality should not be assumed without necessity; 
(or, in simple English, keep it simple). Make the minimum necessary assumptions in Science/Mathematics-- & Philosophy, as well.

Many judges take pleasure in expressing their views on issues not directly relevent to the case under their active consideration. The opinions so expressed are termed as Obiter Dicta and are considered as not binding upon the subordinate courts. Obviously, they are not aware of the rule of Ockham's razor!
