I thank Ms Lakshmi Srinivas's posting on tha subject dated Sept 1.
The remark I attributed is in "En Saritttram" Sinec I don't have a copy with me now, I am unable to give the page number. This remark is made when Sri Swaminatha Iyer's father takes him to Sri Pillai for requesting Sri Pillai to accept Sri Iyer as his student.
