I have never heard of Sumangalis not observing
EkAdasi Vratham. My grand mother observed it 
as  a  Sumangali all her 75 years and as a widow for 
7 years beyond the loss of my grandfather.

EkAdasi Vratham has health (mental and physical )
benefits beyond the other well stated (spiritual)ones. 
Stopping or slowing down one's internal engine 
from roaring away in pursuit of vishaya vyApArams 
is beneficial for all irrespective of gender 
as long as they can manage it.If they are infirm or old or too young ,
their difficuties in pursuit of this vratham is understandable .
