Bangle Ceremony/Valaikappu as far as i know is done for 2 reasons
 
1. The sound that the bangles make is supposed to be good for the child.
That is why they put bangles made of glass.
 
2. To identify that the delivery time is nearing. Before devlivery time, the
hands of the pregnant woman will become thin and the
bangles will drop. In olden days this was used to identify that the delivery
time has reached.
