Dear Mukundan, Concentration is important than the count. And moreover if we do the japa after realising the metaphysical meaning of the same, the effect is more. Doing 10 or 108 with due concentration is effective than doing 108 or 1008 with so much of distractions in the mind. Regards, nanmaaran mukrupa wrote:Dear Bhagawathas, I'm wondering why there is a stress on "Counting" while we do japA. We do the Sankalpam(Pledge) to do so and so times japA of Divine name / gAyatri mantrA etc. Many times I could count less or more. Is it not an apachAram? Kindly explain. (or indicate wherever this doubt was clarified already). dAsan Mukundan Yahoo! Groups SponsorADVERTISEMENT -- SrImatE rAmAnujAya namaH -- Your use of Yahoo! Groups is subject to the Yahoo!
