On the AksharAbhYAsam day ,Sankalpam is made for 
SrI HayagrIvA AarAdhanam and this AarAdhanam 
is performed for the Foundation of ALL VIDHYAAS
( aadhAram sarva VidhyAnAm HayagrIvam UpAsmahE ). 
The paddy (nel ) should be spread and on 
it with a Modharam (ring) , father and the child 
should write the manthram that ends with siddham
and then ask the child repeat after the father 
each letter of "NamO NaarAyaNAya " and write it on 
the paddy . Please call SrI RaghurAma Bhattar
at SrI RanganAtha Temple for the full Manthram
that ends with "siddham". His telephone number is

Thus aksharAbhyAsam is all about SrI HayagrIvan
and His aarAdhanam. He is the " VedAn vakthrI,
praj~nA dhrushtE: apoorvA anjana SrI:" ( He is 
the One who instructs us on VedArthams and is
like the colyrium /anjanam that reveals 
the rare vasthus for one's Jn~Ana chakshus).He is 
Vijn~A ghana svaroopan ( embodiment of Jn~Anam)
and Vij~nAna visrANa Bhaddha dhIkshan ( He is the One
who has vowed to bless us with visEsha Jn~Anam).
He is "VaachAm nidhi: " ( treasure house of sakala
VidhyA ).His sarIram is Manthra-mayam.He is also
the "AksharAm akshara Maathrukan " ( Eternal PraNav
svaroopan). He is the grantor of the parama sukham 
of MOksham ( NisrEyasa sampath). He is the sacred
container for the Veda manthrams during all yugams
( KalpAnthara paalithAnAm VedagirAm ManjUshikA ).
He is "PrabhOdha Sindhu" ( Ocean of Jn~Anam).
As Swamy  Desikan salutes " Sapusthakam tE
vaamam karam vibhAvayE " ( adiyEn meditates on
the powerful lower left hand holding a book ).
We have to pray to Lord HayagrIvan as Swamy 
Desikan showed us the way :

" PumsAm srOthrEshu amrutham ksharanthIm samsritha
  KaamadhEnum SarasvathIm sadhA mE disanthu" 

( Please bless me always with the Speech that generates 
nectar in the ears of listeners and is like the wish-granting 
KaamadhEnu ).

Once AksharAbhyAsam is concluded , there will be
new dress (vasthram) for the child and special
TadhiyArAdhanam  to celebrate the occasion.
