Dear SrI Venkatesh:

Bilva tree is one of the preferred residences of
MahA Lakshmi in our tradition. Hence the use of 
Bilva leaves is an ancient tradition at Thirumalai.
TuLasi leaves and Flowers of specific kinds are
the most frequest used material for archanai 
of our  Lord.
