[sv-rituals] The First Day of Thiru Adhyayana Utsavam at Pomona Temple.

Dear BhakthAs and abhimAnis of AzhwAr aruLiccheyalkaLs:

Today was a blessed day indeed at Lord RanganAthA's temple
in Norht America . 

After Dhanur Maasa AarAdhanam starting at 5.30 AM ,
the ArchA Moorthys of the 12 AzhwArs had Thirumanjanam 
and PuRappAdu .They assembled as a group and took up 
their places of residence for the next few days on 
a special dais.

The archA vigrahams of AchArya RaamAnujA , Swamy  Desikan , 
Adhi VaNN SaThakOpa Jeeyar , SrImath HH MukkUr Azhagiya
Singar ( the 44 th AhObila Matam Jeeyar and the founder of
the Pomona Temple for Lord RanganAthA left their AasthAnams,
had PuRappAdus and arived , where the AzhwArs were seated 
and sat at the sacred feet of the 12 AzhwArs at a lower
pedestal.

Sudarsana Homam ( One of the 108 scheduled over a period
of one year ) was going on as usual on Saturdays. Powerful
aavAhana manthrams and Havis for Lord Sudarsana and others
made the seven tongued Agni to leap forth out of the agni
kuntam . The PoorNAhUthi was completed .

Meanwhile , Lord RanganAthA was waiting impatiently 
at His garbha graham to join the AzhwArs and AchAryas ,
who had already taken seat in anticipation of the arrival
of their Lord ( Ranga Bharthu). A most enjoyable PuRappAdu
with two new grand umbrellas , two silver chAmarams ,
Veda Adhyayanam tok place next and SrI RanganAthan 
joined His AzhwArs and AchAryaas to enjoy adhyayana 
Uthsavam of Chithra BhAnu samvathsaram.The special
umbrellas were assembled for the occasion by craftsmen
from KumbakONam , who prepare fans and umbrellas for
Thiruppathi and SrIrangam as well as Kaanchi .The umbrella
during puRappAdu is an impotant insignia to remind us 
that the Lord is the Emperor of all the Universes .  

The Uthsavam started with the Taniyans for Periya 
Thirumozhi, which is the same as for Thriunedum ThANDakam. 
This was the first of the prabhandhams to be recited
as at SrIrangam. This prabhaNDam was used by Swamy
ParAsara Bhattar to bring the scholar from Melkote
in to SrI VaishNavite SampradhAyam , who is revered 
today as Nam(n)jeeyar. Swamy ParAsara Bhattar had to
explain to Lord RanganAthA as to how he won in that debate 
with the Melkote scholar belonging to another sampradhAyam.
The Lord enjoyed that reenactment of the debate using
Thirunedum ThANdakam as PramANam .Currently , Prakrutham
Azhagiya Singar is blessing us with UpanyAsams on 
Thirunedum ThANDakam paasurams in an inimitable manner
over the Telebridge. 

The just-arrived PoorNAdhikAri in Yajur Vedam and 
4000 Divine Collect ( NaalAyira dhivya Prabhandham),
SrI VaradarAja Bhattar led the way in recitation of
the Pasurams of the day. SrI VaradarAja Bhattar is 
from Oppiliappan Koil . 

Thirunedum ThANDakam was followed by ThiruppallANDu
and the paasurams of PeriyAzhwAr Thirumozhi . At the end
of PeriyAzhwAr prabhandham , a special naivEdhyam was
presented to the Lord . A very talented cook by the name of 
SrIman SrInivAsan has also joine dus two weeks ago and 
Lord RanganAthA is very pleased with the TaLikais
prepared by this crative cook . At the conclusion of every one 
of the 24 dhivya prabhandhams , visEshArchanai and special 
TaLikai (naivEdhyam ) will be presented to the Lord. 

During the afternoon and evening , ThiruppAvai , NaacchiyAr Thirumozhi,
Thiruchchanda Viruttham of Thirumazhisai AzhwAr , PerumAL Thirumozhi
of KulasEkarar, ThirumAlai and ThiruppaLLiyezucchi of Thondaradippodi ,
AmalanAdhipirAn of ThiruppANar and KaNNInuNN SiRutthAmpu of
Madhura kavi were recited .

A special Lakshmi Sahsra NaamArchanai wa sperformed in the context
of official release of the Multimedia , Interactive CD ROM on
the Lives of AzhwArs .

Around 8.00 P.M, Lord bid good bye to the AzhwArs and AchAryAs
to return to His aasthAnam after enjoying Vazhi MaryAdais , songs
and VeeNa play as a part of the EkAntha Sevai. SayanOthsavam
brought the day's most enjoyable first day of the uthsavam
to a close. This Uthsavam will continue for the next 10 days.
Swamy  NammazhwAr Moksham is scheduked for DEc 28 .
