SrI:

Dear SrI Balaji:

Although your point is well made ,
the purpose of phala sruthi is not necessarily
meant for the rciter. In the olden times ,
Sanskrit was well spoken by many households.
Our ladies and children spoke Prakrith
and could understand Sanskrit.

In this context it was meant to let others
know about the fruits of recitation of the Lord's
1000 nAmAs. It is also to confirm in your own
mind about the greatness of SrI VishNu sahasra Naamam
(especailly the last slOkam ).

Further Phala sruthi contains statements by
BhagavAn Himnself and His dear BhakthAs .

It will be an artificial truncation to omit
the Phalasruthi. You might recall there is
"phala sruthi" at the end of each ten of
AzhwAr Paasurams. It is AchArya UpadEsam
to SishyAs there. A Similar situation exists
here.

Even if you leave out Phalasruthi for whatever
reasons , the front end consisting of NyAsam ,
DhyAnam should not ever be left out.

This is my personal opinion .

for the readers to recite particular sloka/stotram. Can we skip reciting phalasruti
if we have no intention of seeking anything in particular and also for want
of time so that more main stotrams/slokams can be recited.
