The Birth months and constellations of the MudhalAzhwArs

Iyppasiyil ONam avittam Sathayamivai
  oppilavAm nALkaL ulahatthIr !--yeppuviyum
pEsu pukazh PoykayAr BhuthatthAr PeyAzhwAr
  tEsudanE thOnRu siRappAl ...........(6)

( Meaning ): Oh People of the World ! Poykai, BhUtham and 
Pey AzhwArs have the distinct fame of being eulogized in
every corner of the World . If we were to ask as to
which were the days in which they incarnated on this
earth with their radiances , then they are Iyppasi 
SravaNam , Avittam and Sathayam respectively .


Why they got the name of Mudhal AzhwArs ?

maRRuLLa AazhwArkalukku munnE vanthu uthitthu
  naRRamizhAl nool seythu naattai uyttha -peRRimaiyOr
yenRu Mudhal AazhwArkaL yennum peyar ivarkku
  ninRathu ulahatthE nihazhnthu........(7)

(Meaning ):Poykai, BhUtham and pEy AazhwArs are
celebrated and saluted widely by the citizens of
this world as Mudhal AazhwArs . The reasons for 
such adoration are: (1) they incarnated before 
the other AazhwArs like Thirumazhisai PirAn et al 
(2) they blessed us with blemishless prabhandhams 
in sacred Tamil language for our upliftment.

The Birth day of Thirumangai AazhwAr

(Meaning ): Oh Foolish Mind ! Do n't You comprehend
the glory of this specail day ? Let me instruct You 
on the extraordinary nature of this day for Your benefit.
This is Kaarthikai Krutthikai , when Thirumangai
AazhwAr of everlasting fame incarnated on this
expansive earth.

Thirumangai's avathAram to provide the six VedAngams

MaaRan paNittha Tamizh maRaikku MangayarkkOn
  aaRangam kooRa avatharittha --veeRudaya
Kaarthikayil Kaarthikai NaaLL inRu yenRu kaathalippar
  Vaaittha malar ThaaLkaL nenjE ! Vaazhtthu ...(9)

(meaning ): Rg, Yajus, Saama and AtharvaNam are 
the four VedAs. The six angams (auxilaries) 
for the Four VedAs are: SeekshA(phonetics) , vyaakaraNam 
(grammar), niruktham (etymological intrepretations of
difficult Vedic words ) , Chandas (metres or prosody ),
Kalpam ( prescriptions for rituals ) and JyOthisham
(astronomy ).Swami NammAzhwAr created the four 
Tamizh Vedams ( Thiruvuruttham , Periya ThiruvandhAthi,
ThiruvAsiriyam and ThiruvAimozhi) to correspond to 
the four Sanskritisc vedams .Thirumangai Mannan 
incarnated on this earth to create the six auxilaries
for Swami NammAzhwAr's four Tamizh MaRaikaL revered as
" Periya Thirumozhi, ThiruvEzhuvIRRirukkai,
ThirukkurunthANdakam , ThirunedunthANdakam ,
Siriya Thirumadal and Periya Thirumadal".
 
Thirumnagai followed the ThiruvuLLam of Swami NammAzhwAr
in creating these six auxillary prabhnadhams . 
Oh My Mind ! Please praise the lotus feet ofthe BhagavathAs , 
who rejoice over this sacred day as the birth day
( Kaarthikai Krutthikai) of Thirumangai Mannan of
majestic glory .

Kaarthikai-UrOhiNI nALL kANNmin inRu
  Vaaittha Pukazh PaaNar vanthu uthippAl--aatthiyarkaL
anbudanE thAnn AmalanAdhipirAn KaRRathaRppinn 
  NankudanE koNdAdum NaaLL...........(10)

(meaning ): Oh people of this World ! Please
recognize this day as Kaarthikai RohiNi dinam .
This is the day on which the aasthikAs celebrate
well the ThiruppANAzhwAr of lasting fame and feel
joyous over the good fortune to have learned 
the inner meanings of his Dhivya prabhandham , 
AmalanAdhipirAn with intense devotion .
