Dear sri vaishNava perunthagaiyeer,

In this post we will naamaas in sree vishNu sahasra naama naamaavaLi having the common thread of dharmam – righteousness. In samskrith vrusha also means dharmam. So we will see naamaas having words dharma and vrusha in this post.

“karthavya akarthavya viDhi: Eva Dharma:” – to do or not to doo- these rules are Dharma. 

 

“Dhaarayathi ithi Dharma:” - that which supports is Dharma:

 

1.	Om Dharma aDhyakshaaya nama: -- naamaa no. 137 occurring in slOkam 15

meaning: presiding over Dharma  or ruler or controller of Dharma.

 

2.	Om sathya Dharma paraakramaaya nama: -- naamaa no. 290 occurring in slOkam 31 meaning: whose qualities of valour are truth and righteousness.

 

3.	Om Dharmaaya nama: -- naamaa no.404 occurring in slOkam 43

meaning: the lord who is righteousness incarnate

 

4.	Om Dharma vidh uththamaaya nama: -- naamaa no.405 occurring in slOkam 43

meaning: the foremost among the knowers of dharma – highest among men of virtue.

 

5.	Om Dharma yoopaaya nama: -- naamaa no. 439 occurring in slOkam 47

meaning: who is rigidly united with Dharma – the very essence behind Dharma. [yoopa is the post in which the sacrificial animal is tied in the yagnaas- sacrifices]

 

6.	Om Dharma gupE nama: -- naamaa no. 476 occurring in slOkam 51

meaning: the protector of Dharma.

 

7.	Om Dharma kruthE nama: -- naamaa no.477 occurring in slOkam 51

meaning: he who protects Dharma. One who acts Dharma.

 

8.	Om DharmiNE nama: -- naamaa no.478 occurring in slOkam 51

meaning: having Dharma as an instrument- the very supporter of Dharma.

 

9.	Om sathya DharmiNE nama: -- naamaa no. 532 occurring in slOkam 56

meaning: who is true and just in his acts.

 

10.	Om sathya Dharma paraayaNaaya nama: -- naamaa no. 874 occurring in slOkam 93 meaning: who is pleased with observance of Dharma in practice. One who is the very abode of truth and righteousness.

 

11.	Om vrushaa kapayE nama: -- naamaa no. 102 occurring in slOkam 11

meaning: the embodiment of Dharma.

 

12.	Om vrusha karmaNE nama: -- naamaa no. 113 occurring in slOkam 12

meaning: he of Dharmic actions – righteous actions.

 

13.	Om vrusha aakruthayE nama: -- naamaa no.114 occurring in slOkam 12

meaning: one whose form or body the aakruthi is Dharma – the embodiment of Dharma

 

14.	Om vrushaahiNE nama: -- naamaa no. 257 occurring in slOkam 28

meaning: who has the day which is Dharma itself – controller of all actions and dispenser of all results.

 

15.	Om vrushaBhaaya nama: -- naamaa no. 258 occurring in slOkam 28

meaning: one who showers all Dharma is vrushaBha: - or who has Dharma as his grace showered on all.

 

16.	Om vrusha parvaNE nama: -- naamaa no. 260 occurring in slOkam 28

meaning: he who has Dharma as his steps for attaining him. Parvam is a ladder or a flight of steps.

 

17.	Om vrusha udharaaya  nama: -- naamaa no.261 occurring in slOkam 28

meaning: he who has a belly which itself is righteousness.

 

18.	Om vrushaaya nama: -- naamaa no. 313 occurring in slOkam 34

meaning: he is the nature of Dharma. [vrushO hi Bhagavaan Dharma: - vrusha:]

 

19.	Om vrushaBha akshaaya nama: -- naamaa no. 601 occurring in slOkam 63

meaning: one whose eyes are Dharma itself- the axle for the wheel of righteousness.

 

20.	Om vrusha priyaaya nama: -- naamaa no.603 occurring in slOkam 63

meaning: lover of roghteousness – lover of Dharma- one who delights in Dharma.
