 Post 9 

 Dear sri vaishNava perunthagaiyeer,

 In this post of sree vishNu sahasra naamaavali, we will see the naamaas having the common thread of the word “knowledge” – the words in samskrith giving this meaning are mEdhaa, vidh, gnaanam, Bhudhdhi, kavi.

 1.      Om mEDhaavinE nama: -- naamaa no. 78 occurring in slOkam 9

Meaning: omniscient – supremely intelligent

 

2.      Om su mEDhasE nama: -- naamaa no. 758 occurring in slOkam 80

Meaning: one who has pure intelligence- well intentioned.

 

3.      Om sathya mEDhasE nama: -- naamaa no. 761 occurring in slOkam 80

Meaning: one whose intelligence never fails, - whose intentions are honest and true.

 

4.      Om  kshEthra gnaaya nama: -- naamaa no.16  occurring in slOkam 2

Meaning: knower of the field of action.

 

5.      Om krutha gnaaya nama: -- naamaa no.83 occurring in slOkam9. 

also naamaa no. 536 occurring in slOkam 57. 

Meaning: for 83 - the lord who is grateful. Lord who knows all that is done by all. 

For 536 - The lord who remembers only good deeds done – the created and knower of all creations. 

 

6.      Om sarvagnaaya nama: -- naamaa no. 454 occurring in slOkam 48. 

also naamaa no.821 in slOkam 87

Meaning: for 454 – all knowing- knower of own self.

For 821 – pure knowledge- omniscient all knowing.

 

7.      Om gnaanam uththamaaya nama: -- naamaa no. 455 occurring in slOkam 48

Meaning:  the greatest knowledge- supreme knowledge.

 

8.      Om gnaana gamyaaya nama: -- naamaa no. 499  occurring in slOkam 53

Meaning: he who is realized by knowledge and knowledge alone.

 

9.      Om brahma gnaaya nama: -- naamaa no. 674  occurring in slOkam 71

Meaning: knower of Brahman- knower of vedhaas

 

10.  Om avignaathrE  nama: -- naamaa no. 483  occurring in slOkam 51

Meaning: the non knower- who ignores and overlooks or does not cognize offences of his devotees. To that extent he is non knower.

 

11.  Om udhaara dhiyE nama: -- naamaa no.219  occurring in slOkam 23

Meaning: he who is bounty of wisdom.

 

12.  Om sarva vidhE nama: -- naamaa no. 125  occurring in slOkam 14

Meaning: knower of vEdhaas.

 

13.  Om vEdha vidhE nama: -- naamaa no. 129  occurring in slOkam 14

Meaning: knower of vEdhaas.

 

14.  Om Dharma vidh uththamaaya nama: -- naamaa no.405 occurring in slOkam 43

meaning: the foremost among the knowers of dharma – highest among men of virtue.

 

15.  Om  chathur vEdha vidhE nama: -- naamaa no.777 occurring in slOkam 82 

Meaning: who is known to those who learnt the four vEdhaas. Knower of all four vEdhaas.

 

16.  Om vidhvath thamaaya nama: -- naamaa no. 920  occurring in slOkam 98

Meaning: one who has the greatest wisdom

 

17.  Om thathva vidhE nama: -- naamaa no. 964  occurring in slOkam 103

Meaning: he alone knows truth in its entirety.

 

18.  Om kavayE nama: -- naamaa no.134  occurring in slOkam 14

Meaning: omniscient and sees far beyond.

 

17. Om  mahaa budhdhayE nama: -- naamaa no. 175  occurring in slOkam 19

Meaning: he of great intellect. Omniscient.
