Dear BhAgavatAs
What significance the family of 1 and 8 numbers like 18,108,1008,10008 .....
get in the hindu religious practices. How these number get significance.
Is there any prescribed scriptures to perform poojas, bhagvan namas only in
these significant numbers.
Let's go by examples
Bhagavat gita - 18 Chapters
Bharat Yuddham - 18 Days
PurAnAs - 18
Sabarimalai - 18 Steps to reach abode
Divya Desa - 108
Sahasrarama - 1008
All ArchanAs, JapAs we do in 108,1008,10008 etc.
The list is not exhaustive. Going by this specific pattern I wonder whether
there is any written scriptures to adopt these specific auspicious numbers.
BhAgavatAs enlighten me if they have any information.
Adiyen
Balaji K
