Swamy Desikan Thirunakshatram celebrations at Singapore

Sri Vaishnavas in Singapore celebrated Swamy Desikan, Thirukudanthai 
Desikan and Adhivan Satakopa Yateendra Mahadesikan Thirunakshatrams 
on Oct 08, 2000 at Sri Sridhraran's residence. The event started by 
reciting Thiruvaimozhi (10.9 and 10.10 ) and Ramanuja Nootrandhadhi 
to conclude the 4000 Divyaprabandha parayanam which was started by 
Sri Sridharan, Sri Anand and Sri Mukundhan few months back at Sri 
Srinivasa Temple. 

After concluding the DP, Sri Hari gave a electrifying speech on 
Vishnu Gantavatharam and highlighted vedantha works by Swamy Desikan. 
Following Sri Hari's speech, Perumal ThiruAradhanam and satrumurai 
continued as usual. During prasadham distribution, Sri Hari announced 
the official launch of the new web site http://www.visishtadvaita.net 
This site will provide fundamentals of Sri Visishtadvaita Philosophy 
and Practice by translating Bagavath Ramanuja's works like Vedartha 
Sangraham, Vedantha Saram, Vedantha Deepam and Swamy Desikan's works 
like Para matha Bangham, Nyaya Siddhanjanam, Nyaya Parisuddhi, Tatva 
Muktha Kalapam, etc. This site will also provide audio and video 
clippings for Nitya Karmanushtanams, Perumal ThiruAradhanam, etc. 

After the website launch, children started their devotion to Swamy 
Desikan. Smt Kanchana gave a wonderful dance for ThiruPavai pasurams. 
After an excellent short skit by group of children (Chi Vaagheesh, 
Chi Keshavan, Chi Govind and Sow. Srividya and Sri Anand) on Swamy 
Desikan's life history, Swamy Desikan's stotram recition 
competition "Orondru Thane Amaiyado" started. Stotras like 
Dayasathakam, Hayagreeva Stotram, Shodasayudha stotram was recited by 
children. Sri Madhavakkannan and Sri Hari awarded the certificates 
(from HH Poundareekapuram Andavan Swamy) to the children. 

Sri Vaishnavas expressed their devotion to Sriman Narayana by singing 
songs on Divya Dampathi. The goshti recited Swamy Desikan's 
prabandhams like Adaikkalapathu, Prabandhasaram. Sri Vaishnavas gave 
excellent speeches on Swamy Desikan's works. Sri Mukundhan spoke 
about Vairagya of Swamy Deskan . Sri Uppili Sridhar spoke about 
saranagathi by explaining Adaikkalapathu. Sri Vedantham spoke about 
Paramatha Bangham and focussed on how Swamy Desikan refuted other 
philosophies. Sri Sridharan and Sri Madhavakkannan spoke about Sri 
Adhivan Satakopa Yateendra MahaDesikan and Sri Thirukudanthai 
Desikan's life history and their works on Sri Visishtadvaita. Sri 
Madhavakkannan highlighted the importance of thrikala 
sandhayavandhanam and the sins for not doing it. Sri Sundarajan read 
an article on Swamy Desika Odam which was excellent. Sri Vijakumar 
touched upon lucidly the daily routine of a srivaishnava describing 
Swamy Desikan's work "Sri Vaishanavas Dinasari" 

The goshti concluded the event by reciting Vishnu SahasraNamam and 
Desika Mangalam. Thanks to Smt & Sri Sridharan for organizing a mega 
event.
