This day is PurattAsi Kettai ( KanyA jyEshtA )day .
Today is the avathAra dinam of HH Adhi VaNN
SatakOpa YathIndhra Maha Desikan , whose taniyans are :

prapathyE niravadhyaanaam nishadhyaam guNaSampadhaam |
saraNam bavabeethaanaam satakOpamuneesvaram ||

kEsavaaryakrupaapaathram dheesamaadhiguNaarNavam |
srisataariyatheesaana dhEsikEndhramaHam bajE ||

We seek his auspicious blessings with the following
MangaLa slOkam to remind us of his visEsha Sambhandham
(special links ) to Sri Lakshmi Nrusimhan of Ahobila
Divya dEsam :

AhObilE Sri Nrusimha prEkshaa-manthram svayam dadhou I
Yogi rUpENa yasyaasami SATAKOPAAYA MANGALAM II

He is revered as " Srimath Veda Maarga prathishtApanAchArya ,
Parama Hamsa ParivrAjaka , Ubhaya VedAnthAchArya ,
Sarva Tantra Svatantra , Bhagavth RaamAnuja SiddhAntha
nirdhAraNa Saarvabhouma Sri Aadhi VaNN SatakOpa 
YathIndhra MahA Desikan " . All of the Birudhus 
(titles) housed in the above salutations were 
awarded by PerumAL and AchAryans ands they are 
carried even today by all those ,who have decorated 
the SimhAsanam of the Sri Matam :

1. The title SatakOpa Jeeyar was conferred by
   Sri Ahobila Narasimha PerumAL as He initiated
   the twenty year old "SrinivAsAchArya Swamy " into
   SanyAsramam at His dhivya dEsam .

2. Polinthu NinRa PirAn (AadippirAN )of AzhwAr-
   Thirunahari added the prefix of "VaNN " 
   before the naamam of "SatakOpa Jeeyar" 
   in recognition of the saamarthyam and 
   power of "SatakOpa Jeeyar " in finding and 
   restoring KuruhUr SatakOpan ( NammAzhwAr ) 
   to His aasthAnam .

3. Swamy NammAzhwAr presented SatakOpa Jeeyar 
   with the title of "Aadhi " from the full name 
   of the PerumAL (Aadhi Naathan ) at AzhwAr Thirunahari 
   (KuruhUr) and honored SatakOpa Jeeyarby calling him ,
   "Aadhi VaNN SatakOpa Jeeyar ".

4. Swamy NammAzhwar was immensely pleased with
   the intensity of Kaimkaryam undertaken by Adhi VaNN 
   SatakOpan for the advancement of Sri Bhagavath
   RaamAnuja Darsanam and presented to the first
   Jeeyar of Ahobila Matam a signet ring known
   as Hamsa Mudhrai that He ( Swamy NammAzhwAr )
   Himself was wearing on His right finger . Adhi VaNN 
   SatakOpa Jeeyar became a Parama Hamsar( SanyAsi
   of the highest order ) now.

5. Adhi VaNN SatakOpa Jeeyar followed the command 
   of Swamy NammAzhwAr to perform prathishtai for
   Swamy VedAntha Desikan at Adhi Naathan's temple .
   Swamy NammAzhwAr wanted Swamy Desikan to be
   recognized for creating the three Sri Sookthis
   to celebrate the glory of ThiruvAimozhi and
   dhivya prabhandhams :

   (A) DhramidOpanishad Saaram (B) DhramidOpanishad
    Taathparya RathnAvaLi and (C) Nigama ParimaLam.
    Swamy NammAzhwAr wanted that the AchAryan 
    recognized as "VaNN " SatakOpan perform 
    the Prathishtai for Swamy Desikan at His
    avathAra Sthalam .

6.  Swamy Desikan was very moved by the Kaimkaryam 
    of Adhi VaNN SatakOpa Jeeyar , which placed 
    Him next to the Sannidhi of Swamy NammAzhwAr;
    Swamy Desikan )in turn conferred thru archaka mukham 
    the titles by which Adhi VaNN SatakOpa Jeeyar 
    and his successors should be known and revered from 
    then on :

    " Srimath Veda Maarga PrathishtApanAchArya ,
      Parama Hamsa parivrAjakAchaarya , Sarva
      Tantra Svatantra , Ubhaya VedAnthAchArya ,
      Sri Bhagavath RaamAnuja SiddhAntha nirdhAraNa
      Saarvabhouma Aadhi VaNN SatakOpa Jeeyar". 

7.  Swamy NammazhwAr commanded Adhi VaNN SatakOpa
    Jeeyar to accept the responsibilities for
    the nirvAham of his sannidhi and asked 
    the Jeeyar to sign his name thereafter  
    with the Thiru Aksharam of "Sri SatakOpa Sri ".

8.  Sri Adhi VaN N SatakOpa Jeeyar was thrilled 
    with the blessings of Swamy NammAzhwAr and 
    placed the Hamsa Mudhrai at the sacred feet of
    MalOlan at his Matam and was blessed by 
    MalOlan to become the Adhyakshakar (One who
    presides over ) all of the 74 SimhAsanAdhipathis
    appointed by EmperumAnAr to grow the siddhAntham
   ( adhyakshathvam upEyivAsamathulam Sri Nrusimha
     Aj~nyayA ) .

Sri Adhi VaNN SatakOpa Jeeyar went from village to
village following the command of AhObila Nrusimhan
with his AarAdhya Dhaivam of MalOlan and performed
pancha samskArams and Bhara NyAsams to every one ,
who sought the refuge of his sacred feet.Kings 
and common folks flocked to his side over the many
years he presided as the First Jeeyar of Sri Matam.
Many miracles happened during his reign 
and one PerumAL after other conversed with him 
and commanded him to perform kaimkaryams 
that were dear to their ThiruvuLLams.
Some of these examples are: 

1. Restoration of the lost kingdom to King
   Mukundha Deva Raayan 

2. Prathishtai of Swamy NammAzhwAr's and 
   EmperumAnAr's vigraham at the HimAlayan
   dhivya Desam of PurushOtthamam at the command
   of Swamy NammAzhwAr Himself.

3. EmperumAnAr listening to the Sri BhAshya
   KaalakshEpam of Adhi VaNN SatakOpa Jeeyar
   in the form of a five headed Serpent at 
   Thiru NaarAyana Puram on the banks of 
   KalyANi PushkaraNi.

4. Building of the Raaja Gopuram for Thiru NaarAyaNan
   at the command of EmperumAnAr.

5. Building of the steps to climb ThiruvEnkata-
   mudayAn's Saptha Giri at the command of 
   the Lord of Thirumalai.

6. Building of the 100 pillar Mantapam at
   kaanchi VaradarAjan's temple at his command.

7. Building of a Sannidhi for Swamy Desikan near
   the dhvaja sthampam at Sri VaradarAjan's
   temple at Kaanchi in recognition of Swamy
   Desikan's help during his debate with 
   Udhaya BhAnu Misrar over the supermacy of
   Sri VishitAdvaitha SiddhAntham.

8. Renovation of the DasaavathAra Sannadhi 
   and temple ramparts originally constructed by
   Thirumangai AazhwAr in response to the command
   Of Sri RanganAthan.He built Utthara Veedhi
   Gopuram and a sannidhi for Swamy Desikan opposite 
   Sri RanganAyaki's sannidhi at the niyamanam of
   NamperumAL Himself.

9. Building of a special sannidhi for Swamy Desikan
   at the behest of Thiru NaarAyanan at Melkote.
   Thiru NaarAyanan had asked Adhi VaNN SatakOpa
   Jeeyar to return to His side from Srirangam 
   prior to his dehAvasAnam . Lord RanganAthan 
   reluctantly agreed to part with Adhi VaNN 
   SatakOpa Jeeyar .

10. Commanding ThOzhappar (Vaidhika Saarvabhoumar )
    to create 8 granthams on Aahnikam ; Commanding
    NampAkkam KrishNamAchArya Swamy to construct 60
    granthams to spread the Bhagavath RaamAnuja 
    SiddhAntham and ultimately appointing this great
    scholar to succeed him as the Second Jeeyar
    of AhObila matam. 

11. Adhi VaNN SatakOpa Jeeyar initiated both 
    NampAkkam KrishnamAchArya Swamy and Sri
    MaNavALa Maamunigal into SanyAsAsramam.

Aadhi VaNN SatakOpa Jeeyar entered this world 
on a SiddhArthi PurattAsi Sukla Paksha panchami
day , when JyEshtA (Kettai) nakshathram was 
in ascendance , lived on this earth 
for a short span , completed all the Kaimkaryams 
commanded by Dhivya Desa EmperumAns , Swamy 
NammazhwAr ,EmperumAnAr and Swamy Desikan 
and ascended to parama padham thereafter.

After the completion of his avathArya Kaaryam ,
He joined Sri LakshmI Nrusimhan's holy feet for
nithya Kaimkaryam . He breathed his last at
ThirunArAyaNapuram on a BahudhAnya year,
Chitthirai KrishNa Paksha EkAdasi day 
(April 1458 C.E ). The Sri Matam established by
him at the tender age of 20 with Sri MalOlan's
anugraham thrives and the 45th Jeeyar , asmath
aachAryan , HH Sri NaarAyaNa YathIndhra Mahaa 
Desikan is reigning now from that simhAsanam
adorned first by Aadhi VaNN SatakOpa Jeeyar
of sacred memory .

In the concluding post , adiyEn will cover 
the two following Sri Sookthis created by
two of the AhObila Matam Jeeyars: 

(1). Sri Adhi VaNN satakOpa Swamy MangaLam 
     by the 21st Jeeyar of  AhObila Matam
     paramparai( Sri VaNN SatakOpa Sri ParAnkusa
     YathIndhra MahA Desikan , who reigned 
     from 1748 to 1757 C.E.

(2). Sri Aadhi VaNN satakOpa Swamy adaikkalap patthu
     in the andhAthi format by Sri VaNN SatakOpa
     Sri NaarAyaNa YathIndhra MahA Desikan , who
     as the 31st Jeeyar of AhObila Matam occupied
     the throne as MalOla PaadhukA Sevakar from
     1842 to 1847 C.E.
