Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swami Para Brahmane Namaha Dear Prapannas, Dr. V. Sadagopan had a very eloquent post on the above subject a couple of months ago. I would just like to add a couple of more points to this subject. The following is from my conversations with Swami Rangapriya of Bangalore and with Mr. B.S. Srinivasa Bhattar who is currently a priest at the Hindu Temple at Cincinatti (sp?). Any errors or typos below are my fault alone and are in no way attributable to the great scholars mentioned above. The attributes of Lord Narayana include (but are not limited to) Gyana Pradanam, Vidya Pradanam and Pida Pradanam. Narasimha Bhagavan symbolizes Pida Pradanam. This attribute is also shared by Sudarshana Chakram, the sacred weapon of the Lord. Therefore, the Lord (in the form of Narasimha) is worshipped along with his weapon. There is a Temple in Kanchipuram symbolizing this aspect of Sudarshana-Narasimha. There is also a Saligramam (Sudarshana Narasimhar) in support of this fact. Sudarshana Chakram also has the characteristic of Papa Vinashanam. Once the Papa Vinashanam takes place, the "Papam" must be replaced by noble thoughts, words and deeds. Also the individuals or objects whose Papam is destroyed, must realize that their thoughts, words and deeds (prior to Papa Vinashanam) constituted Papam. This realization and the subsequent replacement of Papam by Punyam is attributed to the grace of the Lord in the form of Yoga Narasimhar. Since the Sudarshana Chakram is responsible for Papa Vinashanam and Yoga Narasimhar grants the realization of the Papam and it subsequent replacement by Punyam, this is another reason for the joint worship of Sudarashana-Narasimha Bhagavan.
