Dear members i am a keralite, especially an iyer, who is a member of this group for 2.5 years. this is the first time i am reading such an interesting problem raised. kerala has the largest no of divya desams after tamlil nadu. 13, infact, 12 becoz, thiruvattar is in tamil nadu now. in many of these temples, there are inscriptions of the alwars, who sung about the deity. but few of us are aware of these. unlike in tamil nadu. there are no strict vaishnavism at kerala, but most of the people has adopted the worship insisted by ADISANKARA, that is a five folded worship of siva, vishnu, suryanarayana, ganapathi and durga. there are strict text books known as THANTHRASAMUCHCHAYAM- KRIYABHAGAM and KUZHIKKAATTU PACCHA, and SAPARIVARAM POOJA which elaborates the procedures of worship. this is followed by the nampoodiries, the official archakas of the temples. i think it is the duty of the fellow vaishnavaites of tamil nadu, who can do something in this respect. they can come here, and perform recitation festivals at these temples to make awareness and spread the divine fragrance of divyaprabantham, indeed the same is done by saivates of tamilnadu, who comes to the temple of THIRUVANCHIKKULAM, near, KODUNGALLOR, where SAINT SUNDARAMOORTHY NAYANAR and CHERAMAN PERUMAL, an ancestor of KULASHEKHARA AZHWAR, attained salvation. they comes on the malayalam month KADAKA, that is month of july-august and perform the recitation festival at both THIRUVANCHIKKULAM, and the death place of KANNGI,Kodungalloor. even namamalval has left a passing remark of srivaikuntham, he has sung 10 poems each on triukkatkarai, thirumoozhikkalam, etc.... with the help of the webmaster of www.srivaishnavam.com sri. Venkat. i made a humble attempt to translitrate the verses of divyaprabantham and desikaprabantham in to malayalam and the scripts are now available in the site. i think regarding the absence of pure vaishnavaites, some historians...in the group may pour some light. with regards SREEKANTH ===== __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
