However, the Devi Bhagavatham can be cited to show the supremacy of Parashakthi as the Absolute deity. Neither scripture denies other deities and may well mention them, however, a lot of time groups take one scripture and hold it as the "perfect" one (unfortunately this occurs in other religions too,the Bible being another well-known example). >>>>>> Puranas are classified as Saathveega Raajasa and Thaamasa Puranaas.. and Only Saathveega Puranaas are taken as Pramaanaas. Devi Baagavatham is not one of the 18 Puranaas.. this is a very recent (couple of centuries) work. Puranaas are not used to determine the Parathaatvam whereas they are taken as auxiliary source of knowldge. Puranaas are not "apourusheya"..(That is to say ...they are authored by Chathur Mukha Bramha as a resulatnt of his "diferent" moods.) ********************************************************************************************************** I would be interested to find out if the Sri Ramanuja cited other texts that were dedicated to other vedic deities that show the supremacy of Sri Vishnu. The idea that a small group of people are right and somehow everyone else is wrong seems a bit dated. The well known saying "You can't fool everyone all the time" holds true... >> In which sense do you ask this question?? In Vedantha System a school of thought is always ascertained by refuting other thoughts (that is to say each of their (opponents) views are considered in their entirity and are prooved untenable).. in the traditional argument sytle.*(Poorva paksha Sidaantha View). One cant ascertain a Vedanthic System.. (different from others) from the same source that which even his opponent also claims as a valid source of knowledge..or even those who fal out of Vedanthic school of thought.. Besides I think the whole question fails to fit here... in the sense that.. I dont know why should Shree BaashyaKaara should lean (only) on Puranaas and that too "other" puranaas as indicted by you to ascertain the truth?? regards Venkat -------------------------------------------------------------- - SrImate rAmAnujAya namaH - To Post a message, send it to: bhakti-list@yahoogroups.com Group Home: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/bhakti-list Archives: http://ramanuja.org/sv/bhakti/archives/ Your use of Yahoo!
