RE: Introduction of myself

Dear Bala, I do understand about these two sampradayas. I have been conducting research on Gita for a couple of decades now. I definitely know that I dont know Gita thoroughly. However, I feel that the meanings as indicated in Gaudiya sampradaya, tend to not fit into the verses very well. For example the interpretation of the term atma in first 6 chapters is taken as God / Paramatma in Srila Prabhupada's gita as it is. However it fits the role of jivatma better. This is indicated in the 6th chapter last verse yoginamapi sarvesham madgatenantaratmana shraddhavan bhajate yo mam sa me yuktatamo matah. - which indicates the yogi mentioned hitherto is the one who meditates predominantly for self realization and the highest yogi is the one who meditates on paramatma / Lord Krishna. This becomes clear in the 7th chapter which starts with mayyasakta manah partha yogam yunjam madasraya.... Please do read other bhasyas and even shankara bhasya to get a comparitive view and deeper appreciation of the gita, which according to me, is the best precis of perennial philosophy. regards, krishna -----Original Message----- From: Balakrishnan M [mailto:balakrsna007@yahoo.com] Sent: Wednesday, November 28, 2001 6:18 PM To: Krishna Kashyap; krishnan murali; bhakti-list@yahoogroups.com Subject: RE: Introduction of myself Dear Krishna, Bhagavad Gita As It Is and Ramanuja Bhasya are both excellent piece of commentary. Both are from different Sampradayas of vaishnava. Bhagavad Gita As It Is by Srila Prabupadha is based on Brahma Gaudiya sampradaya while Ramanuja Bhasya is based from Sri Sampradaya. The goal is the same but the philosophy is different. This is my opinion.
