Swamy Deshikan Thiruvadigale Sharanam !!!

adiyEn is the happy reciever of a very rare work on Swamy Deshikan -
"Vedanta Deshika Vijaya Champu". This work has been authored by Kaushika
Kavi Simha who belonged to the paravastu lineage. Though nothing more than
this is known about the author, scholars have estimated that this work must
have been composed around 200 years ago. This makes him a possible
contemporary of Raghunathadhvari and his son Venkatadhvari, the descendants
of Appullar, Swamy Deshikan's maternal uncle.

The work is written in champu style which is a mix of padya and gadya that
is poetry and prose. The work has six stabakas or chapters. Every chapter
has around 90 shlokas and 4 to 5 gadyams on Swamy Deshikan with each gadyam
running to a page or sometimes a few lines.

This work has been published very few times recently. The first was by
Parakala mutt with the assistance of the Maharaja of Mysore and the second
one in Madras. The publication in Madras carried an introduction to this
work by the great Uttamur Maha Deshikan. It also mentions that there are
vyakhyanams present for this work. There is one quote saying that there was
one vyakhyanam available for the first two stabakas while another one
covered the remaining four.

This work will be included in the CD on Swamy Deshikan. Transliteration has
already started with the third stabakam going on at present.

If any bhagavatha has more info on this work, the author or the vyakhyanams
kindly write to me.
