Dear BhakthAs:

Mahaa VidvAn , U.Ve.Sri M.A. Venkata KrishNan Swamy gave
an informative and tightly knit UpanyAsam on the Mukhya
Kaaryam done by the AzhwArs in general and >the Mudhal 
AzhwArs in particular . Many members of Bhakthi group
participated from USA.Here is a summary of what he said 
during this ooccasion .


Swamy's elaboration on Sri VaishNavaa duties 
( karmangaLai seyyumpOthu Yeppadi seyya VeNum? )
using pramANams from the three important Paasurams of 
Mudhal AzhwArs, GeethAchAryan's Charama slOkam 
and the one before (Geethai 18.65),Swamy Desikan's 
AshtabhujAshtaka sthOthra slOkam ,SaathvIka ThyAga 
SlOkams , Swamy outlined the reasons for performing 
nithya KarmAnushtAnams and other kaimkaryams .

The lecture was a  sheer delight to listen to.The PramANams
chosen for the occasion  reinforced the central message on 
how to perform the nithyAnushtAnams by a Sri Vaishnavan 
and what are the reasons for doing them.

The overall messages that adiyEn  remembers from
this splendid upanyAsam are:

(1) We perform NithyAnushtAnams and Kaimkaryams
   (Sath Kaaryams)to stimulate the Krupai of the Lord.
    We should not perform them with any other motives.
    Sath KaaryankaLai seythu , EmperumAn krupai 
    yERpaduvatharkkAna Yogyathayai sampAthitthuk koLLa vENum.      

 (2)EmperumAnukku adimaip pattu kaimkaryam seyvathu
    Jeevanin Svaroopam .Yentha kaaryatthai seyyumpOthum,
    EmperumAnai manatthil Vaitthu seyya vENum  .  

 (3) "Phalatthil KaNN VaikkAthE; Phalan koduppathai
     Yennidam viDu" yenRu GeethAchAryan solhirAr.
     "You may end up asking for alpa Phalan . Therefore
     leave the phalan granting function to Me ".

 (4) Phalan koduppathu EmperumAnin ThiruvuLLam .
     Avarai naam nirbhandhikka mudiyAthu.Bharathan
     did not therfore succeed at ChithrakUtam. 

 (5) Avan thaan namakku AraNN . Avanai SaraNam adaintha
     pinn namakku VichAramEthum (relating to nilai,
     gathi , piRappU ) kidayAthu. 

Maha VidvAn Sri M.A.VenkatakrishNan is the Editor of
GitAcharyan , an informative monthly magazine covering topics of
great interest to Sri VaishNavAs. 

When adiyEn visited with him during February
of this year to thank him for help with the constrcution of
the navarathna SatAri (MudaliANDAn ) for AchArya RaamAnujA's
sannidhi at ThirunArAyaNapuram, he presented me with four
pocket size books on NaalAyira Dhivya Prabhndham :

Volume 1: Mudal Ayiram 
Periya Thirumozhi 2nd Volume: Second Thousand)
IyaRppA 3rd Volume : Third Aayiram)
ThiruvAimozhi : 4th Volume ( 4th Aayiram )

The four volumes have 1644 pages altogether.
The size of individual books  is 5 inches by 4 inches
in the mini-book format.

These are beautifully printed books that one can
carry during trvels and enjoy reciting the paasurams.
These can be very handy , when you recite Dhivya
Prabhandham in GhOshtis.
