If I remember correctly, back in August/September a Sri Vaishnava gathering
was held in Madras (presided by Sri VK / Sri Sampath Kumar) to discuss and
adopt strategies for preserving our sampradAyam. I believe several
suggestions were heard and adopted. One such was to compile a databank about
sishyAs / achAryAs and collect information about the 74 simhAsanAdhipatis.
Perhaps someone who attended this convention or in-charge of this project
could throw some more light.

This is a long-felt need.

As Sri SatakOpan observed, lack of easy access to computers (in India)
coupled with issues regarding privacy and security make it a little
difficult task, today. However, I am sure we would be able to do so in the
near future.

One way to facilitate the directory creation, is to pass the word around
among our relatives/friends and request more people to join Bhakti / Malolan
/ NAMA / SVSS groups if they have access to e-mail/Internet. We can also
consolidate subscriber databases maintained at Sri Nrishma Priya / Sri
RanganAtha pAdhuka / SVSS /NAMA/ Bhakti /Malolan Net. And perhaps open a
registry service at our DDs/Ashramams/Matams and encourage visitors to
register. This could be one small step to start the process.

Thanks to Sri.Mani, today many (can) use Bhakti to establish contact and
exchange wonderful sampradAyam information with fellow Sri.Vaishnavas.

Thanks,
Sriram
