"KapAlam" is very sacred. In Tamil everybody is "Iyer". If you listen to general populace, you are sure to hear "IyyA vandAchchA?" and similar usage meaning respect for the person. This is applied to Iyengar priest or person also. No one asks "Iyengar vandachchA?". This seems to agree with my ("IYER?")friend's reasoning that all brahmins(let us not go into 'who is a brahmin?') are "SMARTHAS", meaning they practice "SMRUTHI". adiYen dAsan Lakshmanan NAMO NARAYANAYA SARVAM SRI KRISHNARPANAMASTU _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
