Pancaratra Agamas

NamaskAram,
   I would like to know about the significance of the Pancaratra
Agamas in Sri Vaishnavam.  I would also like to know about their
origins and if they are considered to be revelations by the Sri
Vaishnavas.  Why are they called "smahitas" at times?
