Hello, I had always been thinking that nappiNnNnai refers to aaNdaaL. In periya thirumozhi, 2'm paththu, 3'm thirumozhi, 5'm paasuram "iNnthuNai padhumaththu alarmagaL thaNnakkumiNnbaNn nNaRpuvi thaNnakkiRaivaNn thaNnthuNai aayar paavai nNappiNnNnai thaNnakkiRai maRRaiyORkellaam vaNnthuNai ....... thiruvallikkENi kaNdENnE." In this paasuram, thirumaNGgai mannar clearly explains: he talks about the perumaaL and says he, the one who very much likes his consort, the alarmagaL(lakshmi), the one who is the lord of bhoomadhEvi(naRpuvi thaNnakku iRaivaNn) and the one, only whom the aayar girl nNappiNnNnai considers as her thuNaivaNn.. and the one who supports everybody else.. here nNappiNnNnai is referred to as the aayar girl to which aaNdaaL belongs and he talks about his consorts alarmagaL and bhoomadhEvi and in this context aaNdaaL fits clearly as she was madly in love with the perumaaL who had sridhEvi and bhoodhEvi as his consorts and puts everybody ELSE as a different category other than perumaaL's consorts. so i think nNappiNnNnai refers to aaNdaaL, the choodik koduththa chudaRkodi. i have a doubt: the term nNappiNnNnai was explained as nNal + piNnNnai. but according to the sandhi syntax, wont it be nNaRpiNnNnai (adami style). as in nNal + peN = nNaRpeN and kal + paaRai = kaRpaaRai. could somebody clarify? thanks viji -- Vijayaraghavan T.
