Dear bhaktas,
  In response to sri venketesan's letter, permit me to
  write some of the known facts about sAttumuRai at
  tirumalai as one of the lords fundamental and holy
  sevas from the time the golla found the lord and
  reported to the raja. just like the golla and his
  tanians opens the temple and does first seva of the
  lord,an inherited formality practiced even to day, it
  is untenable to cancel or modify this essential
  vishistadwaita divyaradhana seva. the seva might be 
  originally in the form of divayaraadhana seva
  instituted by devatas,rushis, later on alwars,
  acharyas of ramanujar and fur on it was formatted
  in the from of sAthumurai & stipulated by Sri
  ramanujar himself and implemented stricltly with no
  ambiguity from the time immemorial. The very essential
  rituals and sevas for the god are as important as the
  other sevas for the public. One will not go, erase or
  substitute for other. It goes without saying.
  SAtmurai seva is the gods given right to the righteous
  vaishanavaites of those 74 simhasanAthipathis
  (tholappachariars) and other vaishnava stotriya
  bhaktasas in the order offering the prescribed muRai
  as revealed by our bhaktar tiruman p.b.anand and
  v.sadagopan. this age old vaishnava divya seva should
  be scrupulously implemented by the jeeyers concerned
  without any bias as the staunch followers of sri
  ramanujar, preachers of the vaishnavism and the
  servants of lord concerned duely respected and
  honoured by devastanams. our holy jeeyars must see
  that this spiritual seva be continued undiluted. they
  should justify, convince or fight out to restore the
  normalacy of this essential seva untouched by the
  administrators of the tirumala temples. they should
  see not to meddle this holy religious sAthumarai at
  any cost superceding the vaishanava sampradhayam and
  rituals of the temple. Our present
  maTathipathis,Jeeyars are the true representatives of
  sri ramanujar and the present pillars of the
  vaishnavism. Let us all unite, lay prostrate before
  them, submit our grievences to see that they realise
  the gravity of the situation,exercise their powers and
  come forward to see that all these divya sevas be
  implemented properly. May god bless us and convince
  the present administrators of ttd, to implement all
  these sacred sevas efficiently with no bar as
  prescribed by sri ramanujar. 
  The authorities or any one have no rights to impinge
  on the freedom of religion and customs of temple sevas
  and compelling the vaishnava community to do away with
  their temple rights and their customs concerned
  upsetting the vaishnava cult.

  Before I close this letter, let me tell two instances
  i experienced during my younger days.
  I used to make frequent visits to tirumala by walk
  with my cousin late v.g.k. chari (vinjamuri gopala
  krishnamachari), the staunch devotee of lord
  venketeswara, famous lyricist who submitted 108 lyrics
  to the lord during his rigorous septamasa vrata yatra
  to tirumalai. Whenever we waited for the entrance of
  SattumurRai, i used to see all the baracades were
  removed inside, and the bhaktas used to wait for the
  arrival of h.h. periya jeeyar/chinna jeeyar or his
  representative ekangi or sisya of the matt. As soon as
  he comes, the new comers used to introduce themselves
  by telling ids one by one, or get permission from
  jeeyangar earlier and obey to join in the line in the
  order of priority followed - those learned stotrias
  belonging to the 74 simhasanathipathis stand first in
  the order,then other learned acharyas followed by
  other stotriya vaishnava bhaktas and brahmachari
  students of vedha patasala. He leads us in side the
  temple straight to the lord. bhaktas of the first
  category are permitted to go with him inside the holy
  padi near the god and other vaidikas etc sit out side
  the kulasekharan padi and follow the "sEvA sARRumuRaik
  Kramam" in our sampradayam, in praise of god for half
  an hour. Soon after the completion of sevakAlam we
  will be served shatari,tErtha prasadams(generally
  kadabam)on priority basis in line in presence of
  jeeyar swamy. No anachary will be seen any where due
  respects to jeeyangars and the stotriya vaishnavites,
  till our hh jeeyangars and acharyas leaves the place.
  only then barracades will be restored
  i being a poor ignorant pandit putra of the famous
  SaTamarsana tatachari family, used to be permitted
  inside only if i come within the restricted number of
  entrants and allowed to sit outside the padi and
  recite with them. There never used to be any deviation
  or ambiguity from the rigid system and the number of
  entrants were restricted to the maximum of 50 only.
  Now there is complete degradation of these essential
  divya ardhana sAttumurai seva since last decade or so
  and the things are moving astray with no strict
  supervision of the jeeyar swamy and the whole seva
  goes as a mere formality, and the bhaktas suffer as
  stooges before the anachari dictatorship, the so
  called temple authorities. such is the state of the
  present condition alarming all of us. I pray god to
  give us all the blessings and help us to overcome the
  present turmoil and regain respect and glory of the
  vishanavism and our acharyas. the jeeyangars must
  wakeup to the occassion and set it right
  The second interesting experience is the privilage
  given to acharya purushals of SaTamarsana gotrakaras
  at tirumalai, that is going on even to day with regard
  to prathama teertam. I know the most learned acharya
  purusha late sri tirumala kumara Gopalaswamy iyyengar,
  lecturer, Sanskrit dept., s.v.univ. tirupati, who used
  to go by elephant(devastanams) during early morning
  hours, fetch perumal tErtam from akash ganga at
  tirumala or from nrusimha tErtum at lower tirupati,get
  direct seva and prathama teertam by virtue of being
  strotriya SaTamarshana gotrakara of highly reputed
  religious scholar here. My wife, vijayalakshmi got the
  privilage of getting samasriyanam from him soon after
  my marriage, as my father was no more and my brother
  was away in usa.
