Sri VaradarAja Vaibhavam: Part I

Dear BhakthAs:

In memory of Vaikunta Vaasi , Desika Bhaktha Rathna 
SevA Swamy , adiyEn had indicated my wish to release 
a series of postings on the Vaibhavam of PEraruLAla PerumAL
of Hasthi Giri . adiyEn seeks Sri SevA Swamy's and PerundEvi
SamEtha DevapperumAL's anugrahams to initiate this effort .
May the Boon-Granting Varadhan look favorably on adiyEn's 
feeble efforts. 

adiyEn's late Father of blessed memory was named " VaradAchAryan "
by my grand parents . Hence these postings are also placed at
this Vaikunta Vaasi's sacred feet .These pages are also dedicated 
to another Vaikunta Vaasi and great Sri VaradarAja Bhakthar ,
Sri D.Ramaswamy Iyengar . He was a great rasikA of Swamy
Desikan's Sri Sookthis and BrahmOthsavams.

presented by the Delhi Advocate , Sri Lakshmi KumAra

AdiyEn will conclude this first posting with
the first two slOkams of Sri VaradarAja Sthavam of 
KurEsar .The first slOkam is a prayer to the dhivya
Dampathis of Hasthigiri to confer MangaLam by KurEsar
as he stood before Lord VaradarAjan and composed this
sthOthram at the request of his AchAryan , Bhagavath
RaamAnmujar.

First MangaLa SlOkam of Sri VaradarAja Sthavam

Svasthi Hasthigiri MasthashEkara:
  SanthanOthu mayi Santhatham Hari:
nissamAbhyadhikam abhyadattha yam
  Devam OupanishadhI SarasvathI

This is an akshara Laksha slOkam .The chandham
is captivating .The meanings are deep .The salutation
is moving .

(Meaning): May the Lord revered as PraNathArthiharan 
and who is recognized as the well known DevathA-
Saarvabhouman by the sacred Upanishadic pasages ,that
extoll Him as the One without equal or superiors ,
confer on adiyEn auspiciousness always! May that Lord
shining as the crown for the Hasthi Giri bless me 
with MangaLams always! 

The second slOkam of Sri VaradarAja Sthavam

Srinidhim nidhim-apAram-arTinAm 
  arTithArTa paridhAna dhIkshitham
Sarva-bhUtha-suhrutham DayAnidhim 
  DevarAjam AdhirAjam AasrayE 

This slOkam is a distillation of the Upanishadic
meanings and Tamizh Vedams as well as GitA Saaram. 
Most importantly , this slOkam contains in itself 
Sri DeavarAja Manthram and also has the essence of
Dhvaya Manthram. This is a very powerful slOkam
with manthra sakthi .Sri VaradarAjan is "the Srinidhi
Swamy" standing resplendent on top of the Hasthi Giri .

(meaning): He is the wealth of PerumdEvi ThAyAr 
( Thiruvukkum ThiruvAhiya Selvan--Kaliyan).He is 
like the deep mine of treasures for those , who 
seek boons from Him (Kaliyan got the directions 
for a hidden treasure from Lord VaradarAjan for
his kaimkaryam).He has vowed to bless one with 
the desired goals of life (purushArthams) , when
they pray for them .He always thinks about conferring
auspiciousness on animals, birds , trees, DevAs 
and Human beings (Sarva BhUtha Suhruth).He is 
a treasure house of DayA .He is the Supreme Master 
(Sarva Seshi and AdhirAjan) of all and the Emperor of
DevAs ( DevarAJa PerumAL or ThEpperumAL).adiyEn
seeks refuge at His sacred feet (Sriman DevarAja
Charanou SharaNam prapadhyE). 

Sri Varadhan gave Lord RanganAthA two boons : AchArya RaamAnujA
and Swamy Desikan . Both AchAryAs were born near Kanchi
(Sri PerumbhUthUr and ThUppul). Varadhan would have preferred 
both to stay near Him . He gave them away to the Lord of Srirangam 
to enrich Sri VaishNava Kulam there.He is thus the Supreme
"Varam Tharum Varadhar".

May we seek Sri PerumdEvi ThAyAr SamEtha VaradharAja
PerumAL 's anugraham in our efforts to celebrate His 
vaibhavam.
