old query

Dear friend, I know this is an age-old, much-examined query but there is no harm in revisiting it just to test the temperature of the waters of the present times!! Here it is : Why is that no single AzhwAr deigned to sing a "pAsuram" on our Lord Varadarajan !? It never ceases to intrigue me that Tirumazhisai, who is believed to have lived in Kanchi and who made "sonna-vannam seyUm perumal" into a great and popular legend for us for all times to come, never chose to sing about Lord Varada !! I have heard before many stories and explanations -- some very fanciful ones, too -- for this glaring "lapse/ommission" on the part of "AzhwArs"; but I would like to hear what learned scholars on the list think about it. There are a lot of "ex-Kanchi vAsi-s" too on the list who I think can help, can't they ? sudarshan
