Sampath Rengi Wrote: ***************************************************************** Every Friday there is a periya thiru manchanam performed for this Lord vEngada krishnan as similar to thriuppathi. On every aippasi moolam (moolam star of the month aippasi) there is a special sevai performed known as "kaiththala sEvai". This is a very special occasion for this temple. I am reminded of the its parallel in Srirangam known as "kaiththAngal sEvai" performed on iraappaththu 7m thirunaal. (ie I remember it as occuring 2 days after our upayam on 5m thiru naal). Lord namperumaal will be carried in "bare hands" and darshan is offered as such. ie no pallaku or dolai is used to carry the Lord. Incidentally this day is also known in Srirangam as nammaazwaar moksham. ********************************************************* Once in a year, on Adi SravaNam, jyEshtAbishEkam is performed for Sri pArthasArathy. With all the thiru AbaraNam (jewels) removed, one can see the namaskAra bANam fired by bheeshmA on HIS toe and the scar left by the kaNNin^uN siRu thAmbu (the rope) tied by yasOdha. The kaiththala sEvai that Sri SR mentioned is on aippasi thirumoolam, sri maNavALa mAmunigaL's star. The perumAL is taken on bare hands from the moolasthaanam right upto Sri maNavALa mAmunigaL's sannidhi. PerumAl feels so happy to personally go and see His abhimAna devotee (By delivering the eedu vyAkyaanam to Him for one year Sri maNavALa mAmunigaL takes the role of His AchAryan) Another interesting note: On all avadhAra uthsavams perumAL appears along with the AzhwAr/AchAryan. But on Sri rAmAnusar's avadhAra uthsavam perumAL doesn't come along. This is because Sri vEN^katakrishNan promised sri rAmAnusar's parents that He Himself will be born to them and hence perumAL doesn't explicitly show up during sri rAmAnusar's avadhAra uthsavam. sri rukmiNi samEtha sri pArthasArathy swamy thiruvadigaLE charaNam -Viji (Vijay Triplicane)
