Dear Bhagavatas; Here is an excerpt on the topic from my book "Oh! My God". Dasoham Anbil Ramaswamy ================================================================ HARIVAMSA ( 46 ) In HARIVAMSA (3.31.48) it is explained why SRI NARAYANA is called KESAVA. SIVA addresses Sri Narayana and says "Brahma's name is 'KAH' and I am known as 'ISA', as I rule over all embodied beings. Both of us were born from your limbs. Therefore, you are called KESAVA" Kah iti brahmano nama isoham sarva dehinam Avam tava ange sambuthou tasmat Kesava namavan. ================================================================== >-----Original Message----- >From: V Kamban [SMTP:parakaalan@yahoo.com] >Sent: 26/02/2003 10:38 PM >To: bhakti-list@yahoogroups.com >Subject: Re: "A Hairy Story" > >dear bhagavathas > >one among so many explanations for kesava here is one > >kam ithi brahma >iisa: >thava angE vasatha(2) ithi kEsva: > >to substantiate this in saivism also there is stage of >lord shiva as kesavardha(4) murthi > >yours >parakaalan > ===================================================================== Note from Moderator: Those interested can visit the following for the nAma keSavah. http://www.ramanuja.org/sv/bhakti/archives/feb2002/0015.html ======================================================================== >\ -------------------------------------------------------------- - SrImate rAmAnujAya namaH - To Post a message, send it to: bhakti-list@yahoogroups.com Group Home: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/bhakti-list Archives: http://ramanuja.org/sv/bhakti/archives/ Your use of Yahoo!
