Sorry for not responding since a while. I am quite troubled by what the
postal department did to my book! That was such a rare book. I have asked
TTD to notify me if in case of a reprint.

Regarding your question:

Dr.Varadachari quoted in his book that the Samashrayanam can be undertaken
by anyone of any caste. However, one has to understand that chaturvarnam
existed and is necessary in the sense that it was a division of labour in a
primarily agrarian society of those ages. Swami Desikan treats the Varna
system in his Rahasya Traya Saaram. Perhaps these two posts would enable you
