Dear  BhakthAs:

A dear aasthikA pointed out a typo in
the 52nd nAmam for Lord  Garudan in the AshtOtthara
Satham that I posted earlier.I thank him for
catching this typo.

That 52nd nAmA should read :

(PraNavam)  AruNa anantharAya Nama:

(One who was born after AruNan , the Charioteer of 
Soorya BhagavAn. In deference to His elder brother's
request , Garudan did not kill the serpents , which serve
as the ropes to the Soorya ratham that AruNan drives .
Due to the natural enimity between Garudan and Snakes ,
Lord VishNu and AruNan had to seek the understanding of
Garudan to spare their favorite serpents (AadhisEshan
for Lord  VIshNu ) and the 7 ropes of Sun's chariot
for the elder brother of Garudan , AruNan ).
 
The 52nd NaamA was typed mistakenly as "AruNAntharAya nama:"
That  does not make much sense. Please replace it 
with the correct version.

If any one needs these 108 Garuda NaamAs for archanai
at Garudan Sannidhi at home or at the temple , I will
be happy to send it to you .Please let  me know about
mailing  address .

SrI Garuuda  Gaayathri is a powerful manthram 
that you can recite. If you do not have upadEsam ,
Please meditate on Your own AchAryan and invoke
him as Guru to initiate this manthram and the PakshirAja 
Mantram and start your japams.

Garuda Manthram was the family treasure of Swamy Desikan's
family  and he recieved upadEsam of this powerful
manthram from his AchAryan , Swamy AppuLLAr (SrI AthrEya
RaamAnujAr) .

Another point I forgot to mention among the temples
where Garuda BhagavAn is famous for Garudan are :

SrIvilliputthUr , where Garudan ( Garuda amsam is
PeriyAzhwAr) stands on the yEka Peetam with SrI Ranga MannAr 
and Our dear ANDAL. The gigantic  Garudan at SrIrangam
and its replica at Lord RanganAthA's temple at Pomona , NY
are relevant in this context . At TherazhunthUr Garudan has 
an exalted palce of honor in the garbha graham.He  stands to
the left of PerumAL, while PrahlAdha AzhwAr stands to
the right of GhOsakan. At  ThiruveLLiyankudi dhivya 
dEsam , Garudan stands with Sanka-chakram at Kolavilli
Raaman Sannidhi.  

At BadarikAsramam , One has the sevai of Garudan with 
Nara-NaarAyaNAls and ThAyaar as well as with KubhEran.
At  ThiruvallikkENi, He gives us His sEvai carrying
GajEndhra Varadhan in a Tani Sannidhi close to TeLLIya
Singham's  Sannidhi ( Lord Narasmhan's sannidhi). 
Similar  gajendhra Varadhan Sannidhi is at  Takkan Kulam
Bank at ChOLa Simha Puram for the benefit of ThoddAcchar
Swamy , a great rasikA of the Garuda Sevai at Kaanchi.

Speaking of Garuda Sevais , The ones that are famous
at various dhivya Desams are:

1. Kaanchipuram VaikAsi Garuda sEvai

2. Aani Garuda Sevai at  srivilliputthUr
  (para Tatthva NirNaya Sevai)

3.Aadi garuda Sevai at Kaanchi (GajEndhra Moksham)

4. SrIrangam Garuda  SEvais (Thai, Maasi, Panguni
   and Chittirai Maasa Garuda Sevais).

5. NacchiyAr Koil Garuda Sevai for VanjuLa Valli
   NaTan ( ThirunaRayUr  nampi) during Marghazhi. 
   NaacchiyAr  Koil is known as a kshEthram , where
   NeeLA DEvi has the highest  recognition just as
   Oppiliappan Koil has the specail recognition for
   BhUmi DEvi.

4. The eleven Garuda Sevais in the month of Thai to honor 
   Thirumangai Mannan  by the Eleven PerumALs in and  
   around  ThirunAngUr:

   ** Maadhava PerumAL of  Thiru ThEvanAr Thohai
   ** SrInivAsan of ThiruveLLakkuLam
   ** GopAla KrishNan of ThirukkAvaLampAdi
   ** Varada Raajan of ThirumaNikkooDam
   ** ParthasArathy of Thiru PaarthanpaLLI
   ** NaarAyaNan of ThirumaNi MaadakkOil
   ** PurushOtthaman of Thiru VaNN PuruDOtthamam
   ** Vaikuntha Naatan of Thiru Vaikuntha ViNNagaram
   ** Hema Rangan of Thirucchemponn Sey Koil
   ** SenkaNNmAl of Thiru TheRRiyambalam
   ** GopAlan of Thiru ArimEya ViNNagaram 
   
To be there during this 11 Garuda Sevai and
witnes the MangaLAsAsaNam of Thriumangai AzhwAr
is a great BhAgyam.

5. Onpathu (Nine) Garuda Sevai at Nava Thiruppathis
in and around AzhwAr Thirunagari during VaikAsi assembled
for MangaLAsAsanam of Swamy  NammazhwAr:

  ** Vaikuntha Naatan of SrI Vaikuntam
  ** VijayAsanan of VaraguNa Mangai(Nattham)
  ** Kaaycchina VEndhan of ThiruppuLiyankudi
  ** DevappirAn Of  Tholaivili Mangalam
  ** Aravindha Lochanan of Irattai Thiruppathi
  ** MaayakkUtthan of PerumkuLam
  ** Vaittha Maanidhi of ThirukkOLUr
  ** Makara NedumkuLakkAthan of Tenn ThiruppErai
  ** Aadhi NaaTan of ThiukkuruhUr / AzhwAr  Thirunahari

Swamy  NammAzhwAr  will ride on Hamsa Vaahanam 
for this MangaLAsAsanam of the Nine PerumALs 
on Garudan to recieve their SaThakOpan's
MangaLAsAsanams.   
 
Maasi BrahmOthsava garuda  SEvai at AhObilam is 
also very important . At AhObilam , Garudan did 
penance on a mountain (Gaaruda Sailam ) to have 
the darsana soubhAgyam of Lord Narasimhan 
as He appeared before PrahlAdhan at the time of 
HiraNya SamhAram . Lord was pleased with 
the Tapas of Garudan and appeared before Him as 
JwAlA Narasimhan . 

adiyEn concludes this special Posting on 
Garuda BhagavAn with a reference to japam
of Garuda manthram that  was  recited by 
Swamy  Desikan to gain Garuda SaakshAthkAram 
and HayagrIva  manthrOpadesam from the Veda Moorthy,
VaynathEyan on OushadhAdhri at  Thiruvaheendhrapuram. 

PakshirAja Manthram has anga nyAsa , Kara NyAsams and
ashta dhig Bhandhams and is better to receive it as
Upadesams from those , who have been initated .
