History on Ramanuja
From the Bhakti List Archives

Dear Bhagavatas, I remember reading years ago of a narrative account of the life history of Ramanuja. Therein it was described that Ramanuja, upon entering Yamunacharya's ashram his teacher was leaving the world. Three fingers were raised on the preceptor's hand and Ramanuja stated the heart's desire of his guru. One by one the fingers lowered and he was accepted as the natural successor of Yamunacharya and set out later to fulfill these wishes. Kindly respond if the above account is accurate? What sources are there for the history of Ramanuja's life and of this event? Thankyou again.
