self-introduction

Om VishnaVe Nama: Om SathyakAmAya Nama:

Dear all,
I was little nervous to write this e-mail and talk about 'I' and 'my', especially in a Vedantic forum, the main purpose of which is to destroy these two, in my restricted knowledge. Of course one could argue that it could be done with detachment - like water droplets on lotus petals , without the posessive feeling of shaReeram and so on.

Anyhow, without much ado let me introduce myself: I was referred to this group by Sri. Shreyas Sarangan, a member of this group and my sincere thanks to him. I live in Sunnyvale, CA with my husband Hari Narayanan and 2 children, 11 and 8. Hari's poorveekam happens to be 'Thaiyaar Vankeepuram'. Thaiyaar is a village in S. Arcot District (not far from Kanchi) in T.Nadu. My ancestors come from Kothimangalam, a village in Chengleput District again in T.Nadu.

I was raised by my orthodox grandparents in a traditional, ritualistic Visishtaadwaithic style. But my initial self-reading was Sri. Sankaraacharya's 'Arul Vaaku'/'Deivathin Kural' and later on Upanishads' discourses by Swami Chinmayananda thro' his books just because these series of books were available and accessible to me without my exploring. I try to chant Stuthis from Sri Vedanta Desikar's Stotramala, Thiruppavai and so on.

I am keen on learning SriRamanuja's Bhashyams at depth also (esp. having been born with that heritage) though I have not yet had a chance to do so but I do now, with my membership to this group.
I am also keen on joining the other general group(s) to know more about rituals, to do character building, moulding and shaping young children into our rituals and philosophy.

Thank you very much for patient reading of this rather long introduction.

(vAchaka Dosha: Kshanthavya:) - including this line!

Om Namo Narayanaya
