Dear Sri RanganAtha BhakthAs: MahA samprOkshaNam at Srirangam ******************************* Tomorrow( March 15) is a blessed day at the Srirangam Island in the middle of Ubhaya KaavEri . MahA samprOkshaNam will be performed there .Today , Srimath Azhagiya Singar will be visiting the Srirangam YaagasAlA , where consecration ceremonies are underway for tomorrow's major event. SamprOkshaNam Here at Sri RanganAthan's temple (Pomona, NY) ************************************************************ During the coming labor day week end , on May 27 , MahA SamprOkshaNam for Sri RanganAyaki SamEtha Sri RanganAthan will take place at His Pomona , NY temple on the Western banks of river Hudson . Sriman Venkat Kanumalla , who has devoted his life to this temple along with other BhakthAs has extended already an invitation to you all to participate in this MahOthsavam. DhAnyAdhi , Jala and SayanAdhi Vaasams for the Lord would have been completed by that time as a part of this MahOthsavam. The beauty of Periya perumAL in the reclining pose (Sayana ThirukkOlam )at Pomona is insatiable (aparyApthAmrutham). His Young ThirumEni reminds one of Baala Sayanam of ThirucchiRu Puliyoor .This is a special feature of this PerumAL at Pomona, NY. The Uthsavar has prayOga Chakram like Para VaasudEvan sanctifyig the PraNavAkAra VimAnam both at Srirangam and Pomona ,NY. This Uthsava Moothy had the Hastha Sparsam of the great MahAn , Vaikunta Vaasi , HH MukkUr Srimath Azhagiya Singar(Vaikunta Vaasi)of the 44th Pattam at Sri Matam. This indeed is the MahAn , who completed the construction of the giant Southern Gopuram for Sri RanganAthan at Srirangam. May I join with Sri Venkat Kanumalla and the Members of the Temple Board for all of You to set aside time and be with all the BhakthAs and receive the dhivya Dampathi's blessings on this sacred samprOkshaNam day (May 27)? After ten years of dedicated work and support by BhakthAs from every where in USA and India , we are fast approaching the great day of MahA samprOkshanam. Back at Srirangam , India ************************** MahA Lakshmi has been reunited now with the Lord on His Chest and the controversies are over. When one reflects on the two slOkams of Swamy Desikan's Bhagavavth DhyAna sOpAnam(BTS) , where he enjoys the beauty of Periya perumAL limb by limb , there is abundant evidence for Sri Devi's unquestionable abode on His sacred chest : SrivatsEna PraTitha vibhavam SRI PADHA NYAASA DHANYAM Madhyam bAhOr maNivara ruchA ranjitham RANGADHAAMNA: --First half of the sixth slOkam , BTS KaanthOdhArairayamiha bhujai: KankaNa jyA kiNAnkai: LAKSHMI DHAAMNA: PRUTALA PARIGAIRLAKSHITHAABHEETHI HETHI: --First half of the 11th slOkam , BTS (Meaning of slOkam 6 ):" My mind goes to contemplate on THE CHEST. It has the reputation of an insignia of SrivatsA hair-curl mark. I would further say , IT HAS THE GOOD LUCK OF CONTACT OF THE FEET OF SRI LAKSHMI. It has the cover of dazzling brilliance from the KousthubhA gem. And then there are the fragrant ThuLasi garlands and Vaijayanthi MaalA too. The pearl- necklace is also there with the pearls having the cool appearance of the Moon. Totally , it is a cool effect that comes from THE CHEST of Sri RanganAthA , that quenches my mental heat ! --Dr.V.N.VedAntha Desikan's translation SlOkam 11 quoted above is about the Uthsava Moorthy and MahA Lakshmi's sacred presence there on Her Lord's CHEST . (Meaning of slOkam 11 : Sri U.Ve.SrirAma DesikAcchAr Swamy): Lord RanganAthan's ( NamperumAL's) sacred hands have the beauy to steal the hearts of those , who have the BhAgyam to have their darsanam. They pour without let the boons that one seeks. Those hands bear the marks (VADUKKAL/Thazhumbhu) of having worn AabharaNams and weapons during His VibhavAtharam as Sri Ramachandran . HIS CHEST IS THE ABODE OF LAKSHMI.His four hands are like four protecting bars ( ThAzhppALkaL) for Mahaa Lakshmi's abode on His chest. Those four arms rest around Her.When one witnesses the weapons on His hands , all the fears are banished. This Lord(Moolavar) reclining on Adhi Seshan is also offering darsanam to us as Uthsava Moorthy in front of Him with both the consorts on His side(besides MahA lakshmi at His Vakshasthalam). This Moolavar and Uthsavar have taken their abode in the middle of the island formed by KaavEri river as well as in my Hrudhaya Pundareekam (heart lotus). The fifth Paasuram of ThiruppANar's AmalanAdhipirAn **************************************************** Swamy Desikan composed Sri Bhagavadh DhyAna sOpAnam emulating the anubhavam of ThiruppANar at the aasthAnam of Lord RanganAthan . ThiruppANar's original paasuram that inspired Swamy Desikan is the fifth one (PaaramAya Pazha Vinai--).Sri Vaikunta Vaasi D.Raamaswamy Iyengar's translation of this poem goes this way and provides the testimony of ThiruppANar for Vakshasthala Lakshmi : " Having cut asunder the firm hold of ancient and heavy load of sins on me , He (the Lord) has made me His (Exclusive) slave: not only that , He has entered into me. (For achieving this ), What great and severe penance has been performed by me (or by Him), I do not know. (But this I see): It is THE CHEST OF THE LORD OF SRIRANGAM BEAUTIFIED BY LAKSHMI and the garland (Vaijayanthi VanamAlai) that has captured and captivated me." One can adduce additional evidences (PramANams) for the inseparable presence of MahA Lakshmi on Sriman NaarAyaNan's CHEST in general and at Lord RanganAthA's chest at srirangam. Fortunately , BhagavAn has concluded His leelAs ,tested us and is enjoying the residence of His dear Consort on His chest (ahalahillEn iRayumenRu--). He has forgiven the aparAdhis ,who questioned His Consort's inseperable residence on His Chest. Back at Pomona , NY ******************** Here at the dhivya Dampathi's temple in New York, Sri RangarAja MahishI illumines Her Lord's vakshasthalam as "Sriranga harmya Tala MANGALA- DHEEPA REKHAA". Please join all the BhakthAs as Her children to have Her sEvai and that of Her Divine Consort , who can not be without Her even for a fraction of a second .MahA Lakshmi is the embodiment of His divine splendour and without Her , " He would be unidentifiable without His true essence (svaroopam)"according to Sri ParAsara Bhattar, who has followed the way shown by YaamunAchAryA , RaamAnujA and KurEsA in the matter of comprehending Lakshmi Tatthvam. She as Lakshmi is the Lord's identifying mark ( Lakshmaa or Chinnam). Lakshmi Tanthram , VishNu PurAnam and Srimadh BhAgavatham attest to Her unique role as the resident of His Vakshasthalam and explain why He is known as SrinivAsan. AchArya RaamAnujA paid tribute to this "SRINIVAASA- TATTHVAM" of the Lord this way at the very beginning of hismagnum opus, Sri BhAshyam: " Sruthisirasi VidheepthE BrahmaNi SRINIVAASE Bhavathu mama parsmin sEmushi Bhakthi-roopaa ". (Meaning): Translation by Dr.N.S.Anantha RangAchAr Swamy: " May my mind be filled with devotional knowledge towards the Supreme Brahma , LORD SRINIVAASAN , who is exquisitely revealed in the Upanishads , who sports in creating , protecting and destroying the entire universe , who has taken the one vow of redeeming the hosts of beings , that devote themselves onto Him." Here AchArya RaamAnujA identifies the "Sruthi Sirasi Vidheeptha Brahman" as SRINIVAASAN OR THE LORD ON WHOSE CHEST MAHAA LAKSHMI RESIDES (SriyO nivAsa:). Perukkaaranai Swamy on his commentary on this section of Sri BhAshyam points out the significance of the name (SrinivAsan) that AchArya RaamAnujA cose to address the Supreme Brahman : " athra cha Paratatthva-asAdhArana Brahma- sabdhArtha: Sriya: PathithvEna Viseshitha: --SRINIVAASATHVENA VisEshithasyaiva BrahmavidhyA- vEdhyathvam ithyuktham bhavathi". The commentator points out that the learning of brahma VidhyA is made especially possible by the SrinivAsathvam of the Supreme Brahman. It is Her residence on His chest and comprehension of this doctrine makes it possible for any one to learn Brahma-VidhyA. May Sri RanganAyaki SamEtha Sriranga SrinivAsan accept this mangalArchanaa and accept His SamprOkshaNam at His temples at Srirangam and Pomona , New York and bless us all through His nithya Vaasam at both of His abodes.
