Part 9 Dear Sri vaishnava perunthagaiyeer, In the previous post of this series of "Krishna how entered my mind", we saw the meanings of that beautiful description of aaNdaaL's on my Lord krishna returning home after grazing the cows and calves. AaNdaal was emphatic in saying "we saw that krishna in brindhaavan" "Veedhiyaara kuzhal oodhi varuvaanai virundhaavanaththE kaNdOmE!". That lead again to the firm conclusion that he enters through the ears and eyes together and lures the mind makes us his servants - adimai. That is the main question- what is the route of your entry- our topic, "eppadiththan en uLLam pugunthu ennai adimai koNdeero swami?" Here another staunch krishna bhaktha says, he enters in me through ears and eyes, stays in me. He says, pallavi : pillangOviya cheluva kriShNana elli nODidhiri rangana elli nODidhiri? meaning: Hey folks! Where you have seen that beautiful krishna playing the flute? anupallavi: elli nODidha alli thaan illa dhillavendu baalla jaanaru meaning: people generally know that whenever one sees merely with plain eyes, no way krishna can be there (interpretation- with plain eyes, if you see, krishna can not be there, but with lot of devotion if you see, then he is there) caranam 1: nandhagOpana mandhiragaLa sandhugondinali chandha chandhaha GOpaala baalara vrundhAvanadadali sundharaangadha sundhariyara hindhu mundhinali andhadhAkala kandharugaLa mundhe mundheyali shrI guru uktha sadhaa meaning: gurus say, always krishna is there living in the alleys of temples of king NandhagOpa, in the brindhaavanam with cute gopaala kids, in front of and in the rear of those nicely built beautiful lanes of aaippaadi. caraNam 2: su mangala yOga yOgadhali aagamarthadhoLage maaDuva yaaga yaagadhali shreege bhagya naasha vaarthipa bhOga bhOghadhalli bhagavatharu sadhaa baagi paaDutha raagaraagadhali meaning: gurus also add, he is always there where sumangaLa yOga is carried out. He is there in the yaagas done as per rules prescribed in the aagama saasthraas - viz. yaagnas conducted as per rules with the motives of general welfare of all. He is also there as the wick in us to enjoy the desires thus slowly destroying these desires after enjoying it. He is there in the songs of all those bhaagavathas always singing in praise of that krishna. caraNam 3: charaachara dhoLage janangalaache eecheyali kEcharEndranasuthana rathada chauka peetadhali naachade maadhava emba bhakthara vaachakangaLali meechukonDadha purandhara vitthalana lOchanaagradhali meaning: he is there in the universe beyond people's mind / wishes. He is seated there in the chariots of Arjuna, the son of Indhra without any shyness. Here he is in the tongues of his bhakthaa this purandhara vittala who calls him lovingly as maadhavaa. He is in the edges of the eyes of this [bhaktha] purandhara vittala. So hey folks do not search him any where but see in my songs and enjoy singing about him says this bhakthaa. "hey folks!" He asks "where you have seen him?" and finally concludes saying, "he is in my heart and expresses himself through my tongue in the music which I pour out and in the eye edge and tear drops I shed in that aanandham". So clear again that He enters his bhakthaas heart through the ears and eyes and stays there turning the heart as his abode. There is no wonder to do "kaathal" with that krishna and to allow him to enter into the heart. See the line "KaNNan thirumaal thirumugam thannodu kaathal seidhERku eNNam pugunthu adiyEn nodik kaalam irukkinRadhE" 63 thiruviruththam of nammaazhvar. Aazhvaar is very firm that kaNNan is not ordinary gOpaalan but thirumal- saakshaath naaraayaNan. He enters through eyes - kaNNaal paarththu kaathal seidhOrku - those who loved him by seeing him- eNNam pugunthu- he starts staying there - result -thoughts change - become adiyEn- become his servants - his dhaasa. This krishna roopam - beauty of krishna - veedhiyaara varuvaanin roopa laavaNyam -is described by another bhaktha- see here chandana charchitha neela kaLebara peethavasana vanamaali KElee chalan maNi kuNdala maNditha gaNdayuga smitha saalee Haririha mugDha vaDhoo nikarE vilaasini vilasathi kELibarE jayadhEva- 4th ashtapathi- 1 slokam- geetha govindham meaning: Hari, sporting here among the gopees, who are overwhelmed by their allurements, has his blue limbs besmeared with sandal paste. He wears gold coloured garments. He wears wreaths of forest flowers. When he moves the gem set pendents dangle in ears and makes the cheeks glitter. A bewitching smile adorns krishna's face. See the beauty of these lines describing that krishna - while playing among the gopees. Again enjoy his beauty - as enjoyed by his wife rukmiNi at the time of their union- marriage - as described by another staunch krishna bhakthaa Uththunga sthana mandalOparitha sathpraalamba mukthaamaNE Ranthabimbitham indhra neela nikarach chaayaanakaaridhyuthE:! Lajjaa vyaajamupEthya namra vadhanaa spashtam muraarEr vapu: Pasyanthee mudhithaa mudhE ~sthu Bhavathaam lakshmeevivaahOthsavE!! Meaning: Amidst the marriage celebrations, rukmiNee saw clearly that krishna, who shines like an indhra neela stone, on the pearl reflections, these pearls forming the long shining garlands adorned on her breasts, and enjoyed herself. Let that rukmiNee be the reason for your pleasure and enjoyment. Leela sukhar In the krithi Ennathaan referred in part 6 one line reads- "adhaik kaNdu dharisiththapOdhu enthan naaNam paranthOdavE- adhai - that krishna. Here rukmiNee sees him in the reflection on the pearls in her chest- not direct - in spite of it- lajaa vyaajam- shyness has crept in. So she sees him in reflection or that brightness of that krishna -viriyum kadhirE pOl Uruvu karidhaai mugam seithavanin azhagu kaNgaLai koosach cheidhadho? - to force see him in reflection. Oh that beauty of krishna- entering through the eyes- completely over powers the heart. Now heart is full of that krishna swaroopam.
