Dear Bhagavatas: Sri Mohan Sagar has succinctly explained the role of Nama Sankeerthanam vis-a-vis Prapatti. In fact, the name of Rama proved ore effective than Sri Rama Himself! Rama had to build a bridge to cross over to Lanka but HanumAn jumped across the ocean by merely uttering Rama's name! KrishNa's name proved more effective than Lord KrishNa. When Draupadi was in distress, she called KrishNa's name as "HridaykamalavAsa" and an unending stream of clothing poured from nowhere to save her honor! When Gajendra cried out his heart calling "AdhimoolamE", it forced the:Lord to rush to its rescue. In fact, sensing He may be late to reach the spot, He whisked His discus (Chkara) to go faster and save the elephant! But, for crossing the ocean of SamsAra (Cycle of births and deaths) there are only two means viz. Bhakti and Prapatti, Prapatti being easier, quicker and surer means than Bhakti as explained By Sri Mohan Sagar. Nama Sankeertthanam, living in Divyadesams, mingling with Satviks etc are NOT DIRECT means to Moksha but will in due course lead one to Bhakti or Prapatti, the only courses outlined in our Siddhantam to take us to Moksham.
