thoo nilA muRRam - part 37 - aparyAptha amruthan, ArA amuthan Sri aparyApthAmrutha parabrahmanE namaha AchAryan thiruvadikaLE saraNam Dear bAgawathAs, Moolavar Sri ArA amuthan is in utthAyana sayana kOlam. HE has two hands. The right hand is kept under near the head and the left hand is rested on the knee. This kOIam is so beautiful that one will keep on having this darshan when they are in front of the Lord in this sannithi. A small explanation is presented for the name Sri ArA amuthan. The amirtham that dEvAs longed to have is tasteful but if one can consume it is enough and one won't feel like having it again. However Sri ArA amuthan is such that when one is in this sannithi and is having this darshana amirtham, they will want to drink this beautiful amirtham again and again and many times. They never get saturated. "ArAtha amutham" is HIS name in "thEn" thamizh. In Sanskrit the same is coined as "aparyAptha amrutham" (*). This is explained in the following. soodhAbhAnEshu paryApthi: yathA nAsthi thathaivathu sEvakAnAm sArngapANE: nathrupthirhi bavanthihi: thasmAth thameechvaram lOkE aparyAptha amrutham vithu: ----- kumbakOna mahAthmiyam 52 chapter Sri nammAzhwAr praised the nectarine, never saturating and uncomparable beauty of moolavar as "erAr kOlam thigazha kidanthAi emmAnE". "erAr kOlam" can be said as "mEnmaiyAna oru azhagu porunthiya kOlam" or the most superior form of sowntharyam is the thiru kOlam is what YOU have. "thigazha kidanthAi". thigazha has special use here. Many superlative adjectives are poured on the kOlam of moolavar by many AzhwArs such that no other perumAL is praised to this extent when AzhwArs are talking about one thing in common; Sowntharyam. Sri ANDAL's praises to Sri RanganAtha and Sri Azhagar cannot be mathced with the sowntharyam of Sri ArA amuthan praised by all the AzhwArs iuncluding Sri ANDAL. Two ubaya nAcchiyArs with a huge thiru uruvam that matches the moolavar Sri ArA amuthan are sitting on either side of the moolvar and are also enjoying this ArAtha amirtham constantly. There is a sweet santhAna gopalan perumAL who is present as a sEsha sAyee. It is believed that those who want a santhathi or vArisu may keep this perumAL in their hand by observing all the protocols and pray to HIM. Since Such worshipping brings "putthra or santhathi bAgyam" to those, this perumAL is known as Sri SanthAna gopalan. Saptha kannigais, all the holy rivers, gandharAs, yakshAs, 33 billion dEvas, brahma are all present on the walls that surround the moolavar. One can see many thiru uruvams of many of them in a very small proportion present on the wall. Sri kOmaLa vaLLi thAyAr samEtha Sri ArA amudhan thiruvadikaLE saraNam Sampath Rengarajan (*) - We all enjoyed the wonderful series on Sri AparyApthamurtha sopAnam by Sri VS recently. ******************************************************************* ----------------------- Where to Send Donations ----------------------- INDIA: Members of the group in India, Europe, Bahrain, Kuwait and Rest of the Middle East, and elsewhere in boolOgam may send their donations to: Cheques are payable to "The Secretary and Treasurer", mail to : Tiruppani committee", Sri L.Rajagopalan, MABT, Retd Pricipal, (Committee member) 12, Besant Road, KUMBAKONAM 612 001 UNITED STATES & CANADA: Checks should be made payable to "SMSA, Inc" Sri Vaishnava Seva Samithi c/o Sri Rajaji 2612, Regatta Drive Plano, TX 75093 Please write "Sarnga Pani kainkaryam" on the cheque.
